well, that works too, but Dark Ritual isnt Modern Legal, so, I guess I was thinking it could become tournament viable

So, I know that it hasnt happened yet, but this deck is about to get so much better. add Thespian Stage. Once the Legend Rule changes, you can play thespian stage, make it a copy of Dark Depths, elect to sac the original DD, and poof, no counters. turn 4 20/20 indestructible flier.

do NOT drop syncopate. there is not a better early game counterspell than syncopate. its pretty much the only answer in standard for a turn 2 Liliana of the Veil, who will make you sac your delver anyways.

also, Cyclonic Rift is better than Supreme Verdict, in many cases. it gets around Tajic, Boros Charm, Rootborn Defenses, and anything else that makes their creatures indestructible.

better than countering them is making them useless altogether

yeah. this kind of deck has nearly 0 interaction with the opponent, and its all about not screwing up your own order of operations.

basically its a long drawn out combo that takes forever and ends up playing Pyrite spellbomb over and over again until lethal damage is done, Wizards banned Second Sunrise because the combo results in turns that are over 45 minutes long at times

bonfire is tougher to hard cast. if you miricle it, its exactly the same as far as damage to the opponent

add Devil's Play, or Fireball to deal more concentrated damage. this is a pretty janky wincon as is. maybe throw in a couple Augur of Bolas to soak up some damage so its not such a race

the only "effective" control Ive ever seen that peaks out anywhere near 2 is TurboFog.
