spell pierce perhaps? that would be my suggestion. swap a counter for a counter.

oh, and daze doesn't make you sac a land, but returns it to your hand. hence you can still play it even if you are all tapped out. but if you are going to go that route, you should just run Force of Will instead.
hmm... I don't know if it has much in the way of an opening game... :) JK. I love it when people make a deck that has such a low cost, and yet it still can hold its own mid and late game. :) very well done.I built a deck with the same goal of 1 mana only, and I am happy that I wasn't the only one to think that a deck could be really awesome like this. :)only thing that I might change is kird ape for slumbering dragon. Just my 2 cents. :)
ghostly possession would be great in here. :)
my only suggestion here would actually be to run chancellor of the annex, and perhaps shattered angel.
dang, that is a tough call. I don't know just yet. I would normally say that the angels look a bit slow, but Orin's chant with iso scepter is so powerful... so it is pretty close so far. although I think that merfolk edges a little bit ahead, just because of countering ability.
I like overrun, but I think that overwhelming stampede is better. also, Garruk's packleader could fit well in here, allowing you to draw more and always have a fairly full hand.
*sees a new deck type being born.*
Beasts I know a bit better. I can give way more actual help with that :)
Pretty sure it has been erratad. I have the Phyrexia vs the coalition deck version and it says enchanted creature has lifelink.
ok... so way back when I first got onto MTGvault, I posted a merfolk deck. in fact it was the first deck that I uploaded. I asked for comments and advice, and there was someone on here who posted some really good tips on doing a good merfolk deck. so perhaps you could look in the comments section on that deck. It is called Merfolk counters all. and I will link it here just to make it easier to find... (although it isn't hard seeing as how it is at the very end of the list.) http://www.mtgvault.com/kazzong/decks/merfolk-counters-all/it is W/U merfolk, and it is ok I guess, all the "good" cards in it are blue and would fit your requirements here, so if you can find anything useful in it as well as the comments, great. :) If not, oh well. the comment section will probably help you out WAY more than actually looking at the deck. :)
Just thought of this. Forgotten ancient could be good here. At lest for a few turns. :). Or anything with proliferate. Like steady progress or something.
hey... was thawing glaciers always in here? did I seriously miss that this whole time? *face-palms.* How did I miss that?
I wish that I knew mire about good legacy merfolk. such a fun creature type. But, I shall try to be as helpful as I can.
it is legal in vintage.
true, but what else do you actually need to counter in this deck?
well, you could also add in a few others like force of will or daze. they are great. although I still think that flusterstorm is better than force spike OR daze.
This is pretty cool. I love the sage of hours. To bad that there is no black in here. Because corpsejack menace would be very powerful Here.
because spell pierce can only hit non creatures. I think that Daze is better than both. or perhaps rune snag.
yeah... time warp is a bit expensive... but true I guess. completely broken. :)
