A fun card. Sigil of Sleep.

Yes, yes. These are memories. My first serious deck was a blue deck running heavy with counterspells and bounce. Would bring out my creatures that tap and cause 1 damage, then try to control the board as i pinged creatures and players. Seen another deck, a month ago, on this site very much like this one (and my old one). Can't remember the name, or would send it for you to like.

Idea was stuff like Counterspell. Mana Leak. Boomerang. Capsize. Treachery. Control Magic.
Early Counterspell stuff. Then start bouncing lands and threats. Then steal their stronger creatures.
Then kill their weaker creatures with Prodigal Sorcerer, Rootwater Hunter, and Spellcaster. And attack with the creatures you stole from them.

You simply added red versions of Sorcerer/Hunter/Spellcaster (many of which I did not know about). Very nice!

Of course...my deck was fun to play...and aggravating to play against it, but it could be fairly beat. Still, fun to play.

Oh yeah, forgot...when the Bargain deck came out you could run 4 copies of each card. Hell...when the Bargain deck came out I do not think there was even a "Vintage" Tournament. Was all Type 1 and Type 2. No Modern. Or Vintage. Or Legacy stuff. I could be wrong though.

My unloved Red deck. I am really trying to make it better. Help if you can.

P.S. I don't feel bad for posting my deck in this comment because I liked this deck and gave honest advice as to how to maybe make the deck better.

Good luck, Dusk.

I feel validated. I, at first, felt like a jerk for hammering the deck...now i feel pretentiously validated.

Sinkhole...geez, and Strip Mine too? People have smacked you after playing this deck, against them, right?

I always wanted to build a Bargain deck...but Vampiric Tutor and Yawgmoth's Will are very expensive now.

I also, always assumed, I would want to run 4 of each. It is interesting that you only run 1 copy of each... it looks like this deck works just fine running only 1 each.

I know you said you are running cards that you own...still, some of the cards in this deck are some of the better cards ever made.

Again, much praise.

Now it sounds like my red deck, Razka! Geez.

Reckless Abandon, Chain Lightning, and Fireblast are all in my red deck.

Razka is right, stuff like Reckless Abandon plus Spark Elemental is dangerous stuff.

Here is what Razka is talking about:

Turn 1 through 3 do small damage via Chain Lightning Raging Goblin Lightning Bolt Shock, stuff like that.

Turn 4. Have 4 mana in play. You have Reckless Abandon, Fireblast, and Ball Lightning in your hand.
You tap 3 mana to cast Ball Lightning. Attack with Lightning for 6 damage. Then cast Reckless Abandon for 1 remaining mana, to deal an extra 4 damage, sacking the Ball Lightning (she had to be sacked anyways, might as well throw a Reckless Abandon on her, right?). You have just done a potential 10 damage. All 4 of your Mountains are tapped. You sacrifice 2 of your mountains to cause 4 more damage with Fireblast. 14 total damage on turn 4. You probably just killed your opponent on turn 4 because all of your spells you cast on Turns 1-3.

Also, Fireslinger is the weaker of your cards in your deck. Would take them out.

I liked your comment Razka.

Yep, I stopped playing Magic years ago, and just got back into it. I didn't realize how much Chain Lightning went up in price. I got them way back, when they were cheap. In theory, you can add them just to this deck online, and your real deck at home just keep the Shocks in them. I was just suggesting a better card for you. Shock does 2 damage, Chain Lightning does 1 more damage for same mana price.

Very good stuff. The Bargain deck, at it's prime, was winning tournaments left and right. I believe it was first mono black...then quickly white was splashed.

Good job.

Technically, 2 turns to kill them. First turn after Worldfire (draw Mountain/Lotus Petal/Simian). Second turn. Mogg/Spark/Lighting bolt/chain lightning/raging goblin).

He has a good chance of winning the game, after Worldfire. He has 8 Free Mana cards. He has several cards that can kill in one turn/one mana. It is a crazy suicidal deck...but i think he has the advantage of winning after casting the Card.

I would recommend Spark Elemental over Memnite. Haste/Trample/one red mana 3/1creature.

Take out Shock. Add in Chain Lightning.

You are not running enough Goblins to fully benefit (consistently) to run Goblin Grenade. I would take them out and add two more Pyroclasm for your opponent's creatures.

Yes, this is fun stuff. With all of your mana ramp, you are getting out Worldfire very quickly, huh? You, on rare occasions, can get Worldfire out on turn 4? Or maybe even 3? Next turn kill them.

I like something like Lightning bolt and Chain Lightning over Mogg Fanatic and Spark Jolt. I get the idea, you only need to do one damage after you play Worldfire...but Lighting bolt and Chain Lightning are going to do 3 damage for 1 mana...that is more versatile. I mean, you are paying one red mana regardless...might as well be able to do 3 damage over only 1 damage. In an emergency, Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning are better against any creatures your opponent has.

Thanks for the feedback. Will try to add some of the cards suggested, and do test runs on this site.

Worldgorger Dragon/Animate Dead is also fun.

Tolarian Academy is classic.

Channel, the very first mana engine. Black Lotus, Channel, Fireball. Mountain. Game over on Turn 1.

Power Artifact/Grim Monolith...kinda the working man's version.

All very good stuff. That is what d3necromaster means. It is hard to make these decks better.

Advice. The original deck ran 4 Force of Will.

Consider the card Impulse. A damn good card that people do not play enough. It ensures you will get the best card in your hand that you would of drawn in 4 turns, the very next turn you play it. If you need a island, play Impulse and put an island first (if it is one of the four cards revealed). If you need Stroke of Genius, put it on top. It is better than Gush. By far!

Take out either the Ponder or Brainstorm...having 1 of each seems to aggravate me, joking aside, this is a very killer deck.

Mystic Tutor or Merchant Scroll to get your Stroke of Genius. You can have 1 of each, yes?

And I see that you have Extirpate, again, I think Surgical Extraction is better because if you are tapped out of mana, you can choose to pay 2 life and use the card. It is more versatile.

I like the deck. Keep us updated on how it goes.
