Made a bunch of changes with the last handful of sets. Yawgmoth Demon is a placeholder for Yawgmoth himself.

I have a handful of decks that play Westvale Abbey and it honestly surprises me that nobody has picked up Ormendahl as a commander yet. You could make a pretty sweet token spammy, sacrifice/aristocrats style deck with that.
Yes, Marit Lage is mono black. We have someone who runs her. And to answer below, Elbrus (Withengar) is also mono black. Kaldra is colorless. We have someone with an Elspeth soldier/anthem deck. It’s obnoxious, but not overly so. We’re starting to strongly consider banning Gideon of the Trials by the way. This guy uses him and the deck is just...really a pain in the ass to deal with. The window to defeat him is so small with that emblem and Gideon in the command zone as a three drop. Plus the guy is kind of a dick =PGlad to see ya too dude. Happy New Year!
Thank you sir! It certainly has opened up the floodgates of creativity at our shop, and some of the things you see are so unique...it really adds something else to the game as a whole. If you look at a handful of mine and my friends' EDH decks, they're run by commanders that fit into this rule. I have a few of the "Flip Commanders" and I also have a Genju of the Realm (think that's what you meant). Hell, we have someone running a Hanweir, the Writhing Township mono-red! And it's an awesome deck!
We have someone who runs a Garruk Relentless/Garruk, the Veil-Cursed dredge-style deck (color identity B/G) and it wrecks house.
With Sorin we came to the conclusion that in order to do that you have to pay 6 mana AND drop him down to 1 loyalty. Yes, you pop someone down to 10, but it's at a fairly big waste of your commander. **SO FAR** this has been the case for the people who use him at our shop. The ban list was originally going to be 8 walkers, not the 5 now...and it's fairly amusing that the two first mentioned as concerns in these comments are 2 of the 3 that made the cut from 8 to 5. Guess we were on to something =P
Part of it was that he already has the “you may play as commander”, but the other is that he costs 6 to play, so other players have time to respond to the threat he poses. He’s one of the better ones, and might eventually go on the list, but for now he’s off. When we made the ban list for ‘walkers, we reallly considered each one for a long time. We wanted to keep the list relatively small, so that’s kind of another reason.
Oh I totally agree, the deck list here isn’t that great. I mean, ya gotta realize this thing was posted nearly seven years ago...I thiiiiink I still have the deck in some form or another, but it’s totally different now.
Spot saved for new M19 spirit lord
The change to the Legend Rule and the resulting death of "KokoPuffs" makes me sad...
I love this idea. There is obviously a good merit to the creation of budget decks (they're budget), but at the same time I sometimes feel like the budget craze on this site lately has been leading to too many bad (and pointless) decks for the sake of saying they're budget. These are reasonable decks, and have a purpose, a great one -- "Hey, here's how to play. Just 15 bucks". That's awesome and works as an amazing stepping stone. I wish more decks built for budget had a goal behind them like this.
My shop has a house rule allowing him to be played form the command zone as if from the graveyard.
Well for being new, I would say it's a good list...well balanced. There's nothing wrong with shaving a color off your general, I've seen it a handful of times against various people. Granted, many of them used generals like Alesha or Sun Yun (sp?) who are more flexible that way, but I have also seen designs like this. The main thing blue would help you with is to keep you safe while you build up on your advantages from the consistent life gain. I think you have the deck fairly streamlined as it is though, so at this point I think adding blue would take a large overhaul, and not just a few small edits.
Very interesting. Is there a reason you chose to ignore one of Oloro's colors?
Probably some kind of algorithm for hot decks. It has all these views/likes/comments and then someone new gives it a like and bam, on the hots. That’s my guess at least. This deck has actually changed very little since I posted it too. Still a ton of fun to play.
Play Pox all you want, but if it were me, I'd be politely asking you to not bring Blood Moon and Chalice XDIs this deck a thing? Madcap with scry and control into a big artifact fatty like One-shot Robot? If so, I have not seen it before. If it's not a thing then it should be, because this is a cool idea.
Yeah...Not sure what kind of build I'm going to go for, but I'm starting to dig the idea of Simic Fish. That new lord is just too enticing.
Awesome, I'll check it out. Thanks Kazzong =]
OK, if any of you happen to see this, please explain wtf Amino is.
I both love and hate this deck of yours. I always enjoy having you guys post your lists up on here, because it lets me see them in a more easily visible format. For example, in this format I already have a suggestion. Take out Cardfish and put in Azami.
