Somehow I JUST saw this comment, but if you are still around to see this, know that I have a "sideboard" for this deck depending on who I'm playing, and Hexmage is a prominent member of that sideboard.

Hrm...I'll have to think about some other way then. You do need some more artifacts for the Lich...
Artifact lands bro. Swap out four of those swamps for four Vault of Whispers.
Bahaha that deck name though...
The only thing I consistently think whenever I see a good Modern Pox design is that wizards needs to reprint big Pox.
It was a bad joke, but I laughed.PAL stands for Poxtraction Aggro Lock, though it's sort of just become its own thing. As Gothy said, it's a type of extraction deck that works more on the aggro side of things, whilst harassing your opponent and locking them out of any way to deal with the threats. As it is now, the opponent has no way to stop the threats from coming out and the threats themselves can't really be dealt with either. It is very hard to play, and even harder to play right. You have to know how your deck works, but more importantly, you have to know how your opponent's deck WON'T work. A little less so with PAL than, say, Iso-Seek or Iso-Pox since you mainly just drop a Plunge/Pox followed by Ordeal and rip out half their deck XD
Catacombs puts the swamp into play untapped, which retains the use of that land for that same turn. It's faster.
Tasigur is such a nice toy for Grixis. That kind of engine late game has so much potential, I love it. I've played against a Tasigur control EDH and wanted to pull my hair out =PDon't know if I like Snare over Pierce, but otherwise I think this looks very fluid.
Soulshriek, Demonic Appetite has been in since the beginning. Did some tests with it and it is SO good oh my lord...
Welp, would ya look at that. I found something that I think will work better than Virulent Swipe, so I made the change. Funny thing is, it's not a new card at all.
And part two of my experimenting. Again, anyone who wants to test it out is welcome. Even if you don't fully understand PAL, any feedback is welcome =]http://www.mtgvault.com/surewhynot/decks/broken-crown-in-testing/
I've been doing some experiments with it yes. So far, I haven't found any variation that benefits Iso-Seek designs like this one. Iso-Seek hasn't really gotten too many new tools for a while. This deck is as good as it gets in my opinion, and I worry if Iso-Seek doesn't get a new tool soon, it could fall behind the other two in the unholy trinity. PAL, on the other hand, is getting almost too many new tools, and these new cards are allowing (I think, this is the reason for my testing) for new tricks with some old toys. I love fiddling though, so this is helping bring me out of this post-Khans slump.
Alright, part one of my experimenting is done. I'd like someone else to test out the deck in some way, because as I said, weird things have happened with Monastery Mentor.http://www.mtgvault.com/surewhynot/decks/if-thou-gaze/
I learned how to read playing Aplha at the age of 4, so yes, I'm old. Or at the very least...I've been playing for a long god damn time.
I posted that deck 5 years ago?Holy shit I feel old...
I always try to keep all my decks updated on here to reflect their real-world counterparts. It's tough, but I do a pretty good job with it. The crazy thing is, I really haven't found much to change with this deck from the newer sets. That said I kinda glazed over Khans (didn't even buy a box of the last set) and I haven't done too much with the latest set as well. If I find anything worth changing, you'll be sure to see it =]
Love me some EDH, I'll take a look at it when I have the chance. Been really busy as of late and December is never an easy month for me =/
Yeah the BoPs are for using a jump curve, and I chose them over lanny because they can *occasionally* help with blocking flyers. The main reason I use Harrow over Cultivate in this is because it can chain into a Khalni Heart. I could play a Cultivate turn 2 and pass, or I could pop a Harrow, tap the two new lands to drop a Khalni Heart, and then next turn, if I have another one and another Harrow...oh things get silly. But even if I don't have a second of either in my hand, it's a much bigger leap more often.I think we're going to have to agree to disagree about Urd. It's been great for me.O___o I didn't know about Caustic Caterpillar until you mentioned it. That's perfect, thanks!
I actually used to run it in here, but the deck became super boring as a result. Anytime I played it, the game ended almost exactly the same =/
Oooh, that makes more sense. I tend to use proxies for decks where I HAVE the card, but I don't want to dig through the deck(s) that have it, y'know? I absolutely love Pentagram (my group calls it "Star", I think we're talking about the same thing). If you're playing something like that then yeah, you need to be much more careful when you donate.I mean, there is definitely that legacy/competitive/extraction side of me, but I also am a huge advocate for casual, fun, silly stuff too. Some of the earlier decks I've posted on my account were super goofy decks with asinine combos, but people seemed to comment more on the serious ones, so over time I just posted up more of those and the cheeky weird stuff fell to the wayside. If you want to talk to me or ask for advice about goofy fun decks, by all means I love that crap.
