YEEEEESSSSS! You finally posted it!
Also this deck has a lot of ways to abuse Bloodghast, and any given game you can expect at least one to be in the graveyard/battlefield (that line is kinda blurred =P). With Verdant Catacombs I can not only thin my deck out, but it allows for multiple landfall triggers in one turn, which lets me do some crazy things with bloodghast.
Denial is about as close as you can get to extraction in EDH, yeah. It's a blast.
I would play maybe Bloodsoaked or Groundskeeper depending on where you want to go with things, but I think Bloodsoaked is better overall. Tenacious Dead is also a reasonable choice as is Slitherhead. Tragic Slip is also a very good utility one-drop.Now if you want to forgo the one drop slot, which this deck already kind of does, then you have TONS of options...The best of which might be Mulch.
Oh, for those of you wondering how I got the idea to put Meren in this deck, the idea came from Wumps, who built an ABSURD Meren EDH. I will pester him to post it up
I did think about it, but I didn't really like it as much as I thought I would. Sorry for the late reply by the way.
I've put Thought Gorger on the Vat with Gitrog out and the card drawing I got was insane. I also almost decked myself that game too, but it was fun =]
To be honest I tried this, and ended up really not liking it, because I often found myself without enough lands that actually tapped for mana. As for Riftstone, I'll have to review the rules regarding color identity with lands. I think it's legal, but I'm not totally sure.
Commented =]
If you want my honest opinion, General Tazri is not the best general for an ally EDH. In fact, I don't really think WUBRG is the smartest color option either. Yes, there are a lot of great Ally creatures in every color, but trying to run all of them limits your ability to run utility and support for the ones you DO pick. You can also very quickly end up with what my group calls "Sliver syndrome". This is where you try to make your deck do a bajillion things and instead it does none of them because it's so lacking in focus.If you ask me, choose what you want your allies to do, and then pick a general that will help you do that. I don't think a mono-colored general is the best idea, but a two or three colored one is the way to go. If you want, let me know what you're looking to do with this and I can suggest generals for that idea =]
The Gitrog Monster EDH is complete! Thanks for the suggestions guys, it helped get the creative juices flowing for sure.
Haha Arty recently made a Chains + Anvil deck and it's stupid brutal. That said, this thing also runs Balance...People have quit the game because of Balance.
These are all awesome ideas thanks guys. I have some pretty dirty tricks in mind as well that I think will be cool, but these definitely helped me get in a direction I enjoy.
Currently working on a Gitrog EDH, anyone have any ideas that might help me get it rolling?
Budget Solitude....Now I've seen everything XDSide note, this reminds me that you're an old ass man hahahaha.
Goodness this deck is purdy.
It works very well. There's only one in the deck, but you really only need the one. You can find it with Entomb and once you have the one it works as a pretty nice engine. That said I might actually drop the Crucible of Worlds and go to two copies.
Yeah the win con *IS* extraction. The opponent will eventually be left with "Swiss Cheese Deck" and will lose simply on the principle that their deck can't do anything at all. Most people concede/scoop, but for the few stubborn players, they're either milled out or slowly whittled down to 0 life. That said sometimes a well played Ordeal with Probe can end a game very quickly.
Hahaha not as many as you might think. It's just that a lot of my recent projects have included that lovely duo.
