As cool as Isochron Scepter can be, it's a bit too slow, like in Legacy. It's a trade-off of explosiveness for an extended damage threshold, which can be good in certain MUs since I don't have Sulfuric Vortex at my disposal, but I find Bob digging me deeper to do just a hair better. And Eidolon does hurt me a lot, but it hurts the opponent a lot more usually.https://i.imgur.com/35nK91d.gif

Yes to Dark Confidants, and I would like to have a playset of both of those, but my list is actually running quite smooth as it is.
I told you the evil challenge should never have died Sure. And this thing is quite interesting, it's not your average Grixis Tempo, but it has the power to stay right there with it it seems. I don't know how I feel about Psychic Surgery though, it's either absolutely freaking amazing in a MU, or only activated by your Extirpate effects... It seems like it might be more efficient to run those in the SB, and have either the card draw as Sure suggests, or a nice counter.
Using Shakespeare for romantic lines is akin to naming a boat the Titanic. Bad juju.
An unique take on Pox, but I'm not certain I would have been so bold as to tag it Tournament myself.I find your desire to draw cards, and the cost of life for such a rash action quite bizarre. Could you explain your reasoning? I've run Pox quite a long time, and generally I would view drawing cards as a detriment to the form of the deck when using the full allotment. It's certainly easy to understand in more aggressive Pox builds, or even in "Poxless Pox"(which uses only the Smallpoxes), but here I am simply left confused.
I recently finished another project of mine for Modern, and it has been Lovecraft both times that gave me the spark of inspiration to finish them. I could not help but give credit to the stories that I love for helping me!Thank you Artemis, I'm quite proud of the way this wound out; the 'smoothness' it demonstrates is of an odd curve, which I have never used before. I am quite enthralled by the idea of putting it under the microscope so to speak. And as for your concern, I share it entirely. I was simply at a loss as to what to use for Artifact/Enchantment hate, and I simply went with the most useful options I could think of. They necessitated I use Mana Confluence, which I don't particularly mind, but as it is my /only/ option for casting(as you said) I am at a loss as to how effectual it will be.Edit: Seeing my own comment leaves me wondering if I should stop my binge reading, it's having drastic affect on my speech patterns.
I actually tried that for a while, but found that it wasn't really necessary in this deck. It works for Jack, but that's because everything works for him. I find that I would rather have LftL, and Trade Routes in the deck.
I don't know any of them personally, so I don't know if they have. I hope they haven't... >_<It would be quite interesting, but it would be quite obnoxious to make such a map I think.
I dunno, I enjoyed SlaverPost, but ramp based 12Post had to ruin that for me... And for me, Crucible Pox is still good, though I will admit if you were to play it competitively you'd be best off using some form of 8Rack, also the Zombie Jund deck is surprisingly not horrible. If I really wanted to win, this would probably be my main deck for Modern, but since the format is strictly fun for me? I actually play my weird hatebear deck.
Cthulhu fhtagn, you've actually done it... YEEEEEEES! XD
0_o I've seen like twenty different Horobi decks. Four of them at the same shop, at the same game. Perhaps it's one of those regional things, like how we have like a million Goblin players in every format here.
In effect it's not better, it's just slightly different. If shutting down paying life for a cost is a significant threat, then City of Brass may as well be considered just as bad since it increases the efficiency of Rishadan Port.
Honestly, I see Mana Confluence as slightly superior generally. City of Brass doesn't interact anywhere near as well as it does with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. But this is admittedly almost as situational as not being able to pay the cost for Confluence.I'm boring, and just trying to see the merit of both from a more objective standpoint. In reality they're so similar it's a bit pointless to argue them actually.City of Brass does look cooler though.
That's a very particular situation, that not many people are ever put in though. That feels like saying Storm is too shaky a combo deck because Leyline of Sanctity exists.
It's perfect for it, haha! The deck is quite silly, and quite simplistic, but I can't get over how it's competitive while remaining fun. In Modern that somehow feels rarer than Legacy...
After a few test hands, I can see why. It just seems weird on paper, but after taking into account the way the costs are laid out, it makes a lot more sense.
I've sat here trying to figure this out, and I still can't for the life of me.
Hahaaaa! I think the reason nobody does is because there are more immediately useful generals, like Cao Cao, Xiahou Dun, the ever popular Horobi, or Maga. It just became another card in 99 for a lot of people, myself included until I did this. It's really not bad, but I will admit to still preferring my Sygg, and Marchesa decks more though.I did the same too actually, but wound up going with this one since it was more something I am generally comfortable with. Haha!Gate to Phyrexia is actually the first card I put in the SB, it's in all of the mono-Black EDH SBs I use except for Maralen. I suppose one day I should add them...Liliana of the Dark Realms was actually one of the cards I took out of this deck to be honest. I won't deny that she's amazing, but with this deck she actually didn't impress me all that much. I only really use her in Jarad to be honest.Raven's Crime is in the SB, it's sooooo amazing! I usually take out Cadaverous Knight for it, I should probably make that a permanent move.Braids is one of my favorite creatures of all time, but thanks to this, she draws spiteful aggro in my group. Like, people will ignore bigger threats if I play her... I ruined her in EDH for myself essentially. The others are really good adds, I am especially interested in the idea of seeing how people would react to Curse in an EDH setting! The deck runs quite well, and it's easily a thousand more times enjoyable than Zur, but I don't think I'll be really playing it much. I pretty much only play EDH as a big multiplayer game, and it makes every game go so painfully long. It becomes boring after a point really.
It's discard, but it's not MBC. It's UB discard, but it's not Tempo. It's crazy, but not in a bad way.I love the ideas you're exploring with this, but I have no idea how I feel about the land base. :T
You know, I've been trying to think of something to say to this, and I simply can't. The only thought that crosses my mind is to maybe try and slip in GSZ, but even that seems forced... Insect Tribal confuses me.
