(: isn't it weird how the more respected deck builders on this site side with me? yeah... funny story about that. u mad?

Alright, vito, yes I did bash your deck. It was on the front page (undeserving, in my opinion) and I am sick of these half-ass decks getting such recognition when they're not "tournament quality". I do apologize for the harshness of my approach, but what's done is done and that's it. I said this wasn't a toolbox build, because it isn't. if you're mad because i corrected your friend, then that's it I suppose. Then kamikazi went on to call me a toolbox tool, after simply stating it wasn't a toolbox build, and here we are. You need to chill out. And surewhynot, thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one around here who views their decks for more than just numbers. And also thank you for defending me. (:
your point being?
To be honest, I never really tested this deck. It seemed too 'cute' (I play very competitively. Never know, though, it may just work out for you. And this deck works like a control deck. using mirran crusader and delver of secrets! Delver is actually a very strong threat, especially if he swings for 3 turn 2. then slap a dagger on him and he swings for 6 in the air, for 4 mana altogether. And mirran crusader, with the dagger, swings for 10. Try it out if you like it! And hahaha, yes, 25 land. 4x seachrome coast 4x glacial fortess 6x island 5x plains 2x moorland haunt 1x ghost quarter 3x inkmoth nexus
there still are some things you could improve, but I'll address my views on those tomorrow. I'm le tired. and I know I do, hehe. it's funny, that's what my friends used to call me. all I used to do was play magic, but then some life changing events occurred and now i'm going to my first fnm tomorrow in over 2 months. 2 months mightn seem that much, but after top 8'ing states, then falling off the scene, it's huge if you play it competitively.
hahaha lands are so like.. i sometimes don't post lands because the landbase is almost obvious. 23. 6x forest 4x plains 4x sunpetal 4x razorverge 3x inkmoth 1x gavony township 1x ghostquarter
normally I tend to keep it civil, but after a harsh comment on vito's deck i seem to have acquired some "enemies" on here, hahaha. makes the debate more fun all the same. p.s. i actually built a green white humans after. not really human, per se, but still green/white on the precipice of tribal.
hey dimdizzle, u mad? yeah? 'cause you're bad. find me a professional mtg player who runs over 61 and we'll talk. ohwait, there isn't :/ know why? because they're all good players. though there are no "bad" draws, there are situational draws that may not suit your desires. oh deadly you drew an equipment with no creatures on the board and your opponent is showing lethal! DEADLY, wouldn't it have been sick if you had drew something else? seems like a pretty bad draw, huh? yeah thats what I thought.
@kamikazi; i'm not offended that you don't take all my suggestions, i just dislike the feeling of being laughed off. i play competitive standard magic on a strive for a professional level. I placed 5th overall in my states championships :D i know I can come across as a total douche sometimes, but my subtlety isn't in an attempt at sauce or condescension, it's merely that I HATE typing hahahaha standard is where I seriously know my shit. and lately, i found this site has, for lack of a better term, gone to shit. before it used to strive with professional grade standard decks (i learned a lot from raggedjoe, surewhynot and whiteandbluetheykillyou) but now standard is like... ahhhhh so poorly done. :c believe me, I've stayed up nights questioning a lot of my deck choices, and have probably been faced with the questions you yourself pose. but i've tested all these theories at actual DCI (well, what was DCI) sanctioned tournaments and came to harsh conclusions regarding their stature. when i critique something, it's not out of a hunch, it's because I've actually tested it thoroughly. now, @patchkey, i have nothing against gitaxian probe. i enjoy the card! don't get me wrong, but it's not worth going over 60 for. if you can include it in your 60, do so! i encourage it! however why would you pay 2 life to draw a card when you could just have easily done so without spending 2 life or U. now, I know the card's purpose is to get a peek, but man, you don't really need that at all. peeks are sick and all, yes, in fact if given the opportunity i'd love to be able to see exactly what I'm going against. but a good magic player will be able to weigh the odds blind. I'm an aggro players. though I tend to play control a lot, i can't deny that I just love turning dudes sideways. regardless of this, i still know to play around the counter, the removal spell, the stack, what lands to tap, what to keep open, when to play or when to hold back. there's so much that goes into actual magic that needs not to view your opponents hand. it's a great card, believe me, but now your timely reinforcements just gained you 4 as opposed to 6, and you're still over 60 cards. :/
that's the only wall of frost ; ]
not standard legal sry
alright, so let me break it down for you. in any circumstance, chances are there's a card you'd seriously enjoy to draw, correct? like say if you're at a low life total and you need to draw a timely reinforcements. now, in a 60 card deck, having 4 probes is ALMOST like running 56. 1/56 shows a better chance of you drawing timely rather than 1/60. now lets say you're running 65, even if you have 4 probes, you're still only giving yourself 1/61 chances to draw a card you want (even if you run multiples, for argument's sake we'll say you run a sole copy because we're silly.) so, which would you rather? 1/56 or 1/61? you'd be better off not running the probes at all in that case. ask any professional magic player, and they will tell you that luck is a serious part of magic. and any ways of building a deck that can decrease the luck required is considered a value. increasing your probability of drawing what you need diminishes the luck required to draw. jesus christ it's like talking to the wall sometimes.
probes are good, but any card takes up space. regardless of the fact that you can draw a card off of it and essentially play it for free, it's still one of your opening 7. in a deck with 60, it's a lot more useful. why do you think there are no top 32 standard deck lists running over 61? because it's not practical.
:( Nobody ever listens
But.... forgetting the misleading title, there are things here that definitely need to be considered. anyone who said "65 won't matter in this deck" is, for lack of a better word, bad. Simply bad. 61, MAXIMUM. And why is this? well, lets say you really need a card in a situation, like, if you don't draw it you lose. you have way better chances out of 60 than out of 65. don't look at cards being "free", because regardless they occupy a card slot that fills your opening 7. i think swiftfoot is really not needed here. it's relatively weak with this creature build. geist already has hexproof, and though hero with swiftfoot is nice, it's not really worth going over 60. with this curve, you could prob. stick to 25 land. honor of the pure is an aggressive card. and with such a low creature count, it's hardly worth it. you either want to lose control aspects or lose honor altogether. and i said it once, i'll say it many times to come; if you run angelic destiny, run grand abolisher. you don't want spellskites eating your destinies!
this is not a toolbox... I used to play toolbox back when fauna shaman was kicking around. this is just a deck with multiples and card draw :c
Thanks man! I'm actually going to the legacy Canadian nationals this year, haha. Guess it's time to start getting ready... I'll either play dredge or reanimator. Haven't decided which one yet :O
updated (: i'm glad you like it, bro! i considered mentor, but when i thought of it, i'd rather just draw another threat.. kind of like virtual card draw; why put him in to help draw threats when i can just pack threats? (:
phantasmal image in the sideboard. deals with geist too. they're legendary so if the image copies them they both die.
it's not meant to be fast whatsoever, it's a control build with kessig as a bit of a finisher. (: and testing is pretty good, aggro cannot win lol
