Hey thanks fluff! I like some of your suggestions, and will use them when I play casual, but this thing is standard legal, so Dark Depths is out. So, Praetor's Grasp seems limited... But I rocked this thing at FNM and man, those cards saved my butt. Every competitive deck is either running Black, or some strong artifacts (aside from elves, in which case I'd swap out for more removal). Cawblade? I'll take the Swords, or Batterskull. Kuldotha? Why thank you, that Signal Pest sure is handy with all my vamps out. B/R Vamps? BAHAHAHA!! It's a bomb, especially when they are playing with a less than ideal draw. Hexmage... it's a 2/1 first strike for 2... That's not bad. Put that card against any planeswalker or infect deck and it is even stronger. This deck is gonna have some changes made really soon... Stoneforge Mystic and Jace just got banned in Standard, so CAWblade is gonna be OUT! :-)

If you want it to function on control, drop piston sledge (card is literally useless to you after someone kills the creature it's on, which they definitely will, since you don't have another artifact worth sacing to equip it.) and put in sword of feast and famine... A little evasion, isn't bad, especially on a flyer or unblockable. Then, when it untaps your lands, play the counter/removal game until your next untap step. Doom Blade has never been a big thing for me... I think it's sideboard material unless you're playing something like elves... but then Smother, Disfigure, Grasp of Darkness, work just as well... In fact, with CAW-blade smashing face right now, I'd say all those options are pretty strong (especially disfigure, pre sword equip). If you can't afford a sword, Praetor's Grasp is a nice way of getting one :-)
Why do I want my creatures to attack? They all have 0 power.
Dude, if you're gonna use the grenades... Goblin Arsonist, Mudbutton Torchrunner, or Tuk Tuk the Explorer! Lose 2 of the Tunnelers, they are only slowing you down. Or maybe the Burst Lightnings.
Why remove the discard? I can understand needing removal, I just don't happen to have Go for the Throat right now and don't much care for Doomblade since B/R Vamps is so popular.
Yeah for sure bud. I'll go take a look right now. And yeah, this deck only has two rares... the Tides. Everything else is common or uncommon... you could build this deck for less than $10.
The whole basis of this deck is abusing Land Tax. And I can only do that if I have less land than the opponent... Crucible of worlds would be spot on if I wanted to get more land out, but with Fastbond and Land Tax in play, I can search, drop/discard at least 3 lands, trigger landfall or Seismic Assault three times, play Raze to hobble my opponent or devastating summons to put out 2 3/3's, 4/4's, etc for one, and drop the amount of land back down below my opponent so I can do it again next turn.
Fluff my man, couldn't agree with you more, but the drake isn't standard and I've been into building decks with a lot of commons/uncommons.
Haha! Nice :-)
It's nice to see proliferate get a little more attention :-) It's my favorite Mechanic and I like seeing it done well :-) Couple suggestions though... Stoic Rebuttal is almost NEVER going to get metalcraft in this deck. I suggest Corrupted Resolve instead... in and infect deck it's almost always casting for 2. Spread the Sickness is Nice, but at 5 mana to cast it's just too expensive... Virulent wound is helpful, and much cheaper. Get's the counter out, and with the amount of proliferate you're running, the creature should be dead in a few turns anyway. And once it dies, poison counter! Fuel for the Cause is on the same plane as Spread the Sickness. Really sweet effect, but it's too expensive to make it worth running... If you need the proliferate, you'd probably be better off running something like Grim Affliction, or some Contagion Clasps/Engines. Or maybe toss in Viral Drake? That guy has some utility on him in an infect deck. And finally, get rid of Steady Progress. Tezzeret's Gambit kicks the crap out of that card. Oh, as a side note, Blighted Agent and Plague Stinger cost the same amount... Just saying :-)
Mr. WhyNot, it's good to see something besides extraction over here ;-) I'm loving this, and it's fringing on territory I'm attempting to explore... Elf/Insect Infect The only suggestion I can make is maybe some Skullclamps or other means of card draw? Infiltration Lens? And I'm sure you've had your fill of it by now, but I've got a vampire based bloodcrank deck up that I wouldn't mind some feedback on :-)
DAMMMMMMMIIT! As soon as I read the title of your deck I thought it was going to be a insect/elf infect with Swarmlord and the Viridians... I was a little bummed until I realized that it was a new idea and I could play with it... Way to go Church! Ruin my element of surprise!
Painful Quandry and the new Bloodchief Ascension/Mindcrank combo should help with a win :-)
Bludgeon Brawl will lower the equip cost of most of my artifacts, make them all have a little +1/+0 boost AND they still keep their abilities. This deck is fun, but it's not exactly brutal... Now, Puresteel Paladin, Bludgeon Brawl, and Armament Master with a lot of Kor creatures... that could be brutal... :-)
Would you like to double your damage?? Then come on down to BrianWW's Magic Store and buy Assault Strobe!! Ok, so there's no store. But you need Assault Strobe... R for double strike + extra boost on the fiend? Even if you don't cast a single other spell it's swinging for 8! Toss in a Bull Rush and it's swinging for 18!! A Distortion Strike and that's game! Also, Fire Servant is on the slow side for this deck... MAYBE sideboard for a life gain deck, but otherwise, I don't think you need that kind of firepower since by turn 5 they shouldn't have much life left. Consider Cunning Sparkmage or Prodigal Pyromancer? It'll boost Chandras and do a little damage/ or can be used as chump removal.
More proliferate! +3 Thrummingbird, at least!
I like that, but he's expensive... But this deck does need some serious tweaking.
It's not about creatures, it's about land. Mana ramp and get like 8 lands out and some boost enchantments. Then turn all your lands into creatures and Erupt. You should be dropping something like 8 boosted and hastened hellions by turn 5 or 6.
I like it dude, I'd like to see how our decks match up :-) Landfall Pump vs Aura Control... That'll be a good time :-) If you're living in So Cal we can probably make that match up happen sometime.
Yeah dude, I prefer to think of it as a "critical hit" skill... kinda like in the old Pokemon video games :-)
