actually play a mono black version in paper, Iprefer pack rat over waste not in most discard decks now.

but being able to abuse crime makes waste not better here.

probe just thins the deck out, more life lost and doesn't really do anything that my discard can't, I also can't recure it.

Mono black 8-Rack(Hand control)
http://www.mtgvault.com/viagrasaurusrex/decks/torn-between-these-2-decklists/

These are the two deck lists I am torn between, though i am leaning more towards pack rat.

The main differences are:

Pack rat list-
1: pack rat takes a lot of pressure of ensnaring bridge which we need to lock out out opponents in creature best matches.
2: pack rat can attack under bridge. you can attack then activate mutavault/make another rat or do both and attack for 2-3 damage+
3: with pack rat in play once we in top deck mode every draw is a live draw.
4: improves all our creature based match ups

Waste not list-
1: explosive early game potential
2: extreme value with smallpox when waste not is in play.

In the end I feel the waste not list ends up being more gimmicky than the rat list.

8-rack is a mono black discard deck that focuses on dismantling your game plan and winning through a long grindy game that is very frustrating to face.
We specialize in picking apart combo decks, and slow deck(any blue based deck really)

Core of the deck:
4xEnsnaring Bridge
4xThe Rack
4xShrieking Affliction
4xLiliana of the Veil
4xRaven's Crime
2xDakmore Salvage(soft lock with ravens crime)

Match ups-

Good:
Ad naus combo(best match up ever 85%? maybe more haven't lost to it yet)
storm(pyro)
UWR control
UWR midgrange
Delver decks(all)
living end

50/50:
Merfolk
U-tron
Pod(angel and melira)

Bad:
Affinity
G/R tron(almost unwinnible)
Infect
Boggles

Well I board in 4x surgicals vs murica:P gets pretty easy from there.
They can generally stall out the game and good players will bounce your bridges with cryptics but if you can get a raven's/ lilly lock online its gg as early as turn 4:P.
The trick is to not run too many racks out so they can't 2-1 you:P

I will do a huge post later when i get home though

I will add my 8-rack deck, only played it once on paper but i have a lot more time with it on cockatrice.
went 3-1 at a paper modern event
2-1 vs angel pod(50/50 match up)
1-2 vs merfolk(normally a good match up just a few misplays)
2-1 vs UWR control(easy match up lost game one keeping a removal heavy hand)
2-0 U tron(50/50 match up)

I will post my lists later as i am at work atm and need to build each build.

Keranos doesn't need to become a creature, his value is just being an engine.
(that being said there may be better RUx or RU creatures in Khans that are worth while of playing)
Poluk is just too strong even more so because you have 2 bows MD, I mean swing procing DT, go monsterous and nuke their board?
Well in like 2 months you will have a lot more options to choose from lol:P

Illusory Angel is better in an aggro/tempo deck.
Kinda awkward here, I would up the could on Poluk or add more removal.
Overall very nice, cant wait for spoilers -_- I want bug(Salty) control/midrange to still be a thing.

lol well i doubt they would ever just go off this.
But I'm sure many of these cards are at least on thier radar.(besides the reserve listed cards)
I mean, whenever they revist a plane they look back and build off the lore/do a couple reprints so it isn't that farfetched that its a possibility.

I just wish that game stores didn't control the singles market pricing -_-

I do play a more creature based sliver deck in modern, I just find you need a way to interact with combo decks more in legacy.
I know, I wish they would just reprint vial, or at least some sorta premade deck with 2 or so in it.

1: waste not is terrible in this deck, you have 5 cards that work with it...
2: I would mainboard syncopate before negate or essence scatter
3: you don't have enough lands for control and your curve(25 ish)
4: you have 0 cards draw
5: I would focus on removing creatures to address the above.

Replace Fireball with Banefire.
I feel you need snapcaster to help with pyro, maybe in place of down and dirty

Personally I have found counter sliver to be a bit more viable in legacy

Vial is great in the deck

Black market seems REALLY good in this deck.
I would also add 1-2 board wipes, my black commander favorites are:
Decree of pain and Life's finale.
Bloodchief's ascension is also amazing in commander and with this deck provides sustain.

See I completely disagree with removal in living end, living end is removal. You want to keep their creatures on the field so that way when you cascade into living end they end up in the GY.
If you use removal you will just end up leaving them with blockers.

I agree with removal in this deck, but I don't this it has to be removal you can cascade into.
