Nice fish deck. I like the inclusion of CC, it's truly an amazing card. I made a similar deck, but then again there's not a lot of room to change things around to make a competitive merfolk deck. That being said, I do have one question: What does the DHA tag stand for? I've been seeing it lately and have no idea what it is.

Yeah, sorry. My deck descriptions are becoming kind of bland. This is a pretty common deck archetype in competitive Modern tournaments - I've made a few changes from what would be, more or less, a netdeck. Glad you like the deck :)
It's a good card to be sure, but highly situational. I haven't seen many decks that use Curses to the extent that you'd want a card to specifically destroy a Curse when you could just have destroy enchantment/artifact instead.
The reason for the other fetch lands is to exploit Emeria Angel's ability further. Since both of those fetches can grab me either a plains or a forest, I can grab my Temple Garden's with them or the respective basic land so they're still useful to the deck. The other reason is, of course, that having fetch lands reduces the amount of lands you have in your library by basically giving you 2 lands (1 to the graveyard, 1 in play) for 1 life - which gives you a higher probability of pulling the cards you want. :)
It's meant for Modern but yeah.. Unfortunately tournament tier decks are not super diverse. Only a couple handful of strategies people use frequently. I could see this deck getting a few wins though, I'd play tested it enough to be satisfied with this list.
I can see that.. I run cards like Slaughter Pact and Surgical Extraction to get rid of cards like Blood Moon though and need Llanowar Wastes for those. Might take out a Ghost Quarter for a Forest but not sure yet.
I like it. Though I do have a couple of suggestions..Drop the 3 basic lands, 2 izzet signets, and 1 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon and add more instants. Condescend, Repeal, and Thirst for Knowledge would all be good replacement cards. Maybe take out a Mage for an All is Dust? Also I'd drop the Obliterate cards for Pyroclasm to deal with aggro decks.I made a Gruul Tron deck (not creative at all, I know) and I'd appreciate feedback if you get the chance :)http://www.mtgvault.com/thegreatmunchkin/decks/gruultron/
Yeah I agree with that. Changed out Tymaret for Tasigur, and also changed out the Grisly Salvage for Kolaghan's Command. Thanks for your feedback and glad you like the deck! :)
Made a small change to this deck - reduced Vial to 2x and brought back Descendants' Path at 2x. I felt that having 4 Vials was redundant and think that the addition of Path again will make the deck a bit more dynamic and ultimately feel that this change will help increase creature ramp on a standard deck play. Need to test it a bit more to confirm, but I'm confident about this change. Let me know what you guys think.
Yeah - the Scepters can be changed out for the Detention Sphere's if it's not a good matchup to have them in - but I really like them as they can really lock out an opponent if you have the right card imprinted on it (my favorite is Remand). I'm also a big fan of Cyclonic Rift - 2 mana isn't that much to remove a threat from the board and the Overload is devastating if you can get the mana for it, so I feel like a couple of them are definitely worth it. I also think White splash is nice for this kind of deck - not sold on Azorius Charm though.
OK guys, made some more changes to this deck - let me know what you think.Dropped the enchantments and added 4 Serum VisionsDropped 2 Cultivate for 2 Rampaging BalothLightning Bolt and Cyclonic Rift now at 4xI feel like these changes give the deck a more streamlined mechanic and will make it better in general. Not fully set on the idea though so let me know if you have any ideas that might improve the deck. Thanks! :)
I've definitely thought about Rampaging Baloths. I'll have to look at the other cards as well - thanks for the suggestion!
I bumped up the Lightning Bolts to x4. After reviewing this deck a bit more, I feel like it needs some changes to focus more on one mechanic. I definitely like having the Farseek's in there as well.. might drop the Cultivates for something else, but I don't know. I'm sort of undecided as to where I want to go with this deck because I like the idea I'm just not sold on what I want it to be right now exactly.
Made a few changes to the deck; got rid of Melek for Ogre Battledriver as Melek was essentially uncastable in this deck at 6 CMC and Battledriver gives the tokens +2/+0 and haste when they enter the battlefield; also changed up the sorcery and instant cards a bit.
Also hope you had a great holiday season and are off to a good start to the New Year! :)
Yeah I've been away from the Vault for a bit, need to rectify that. Thanks for looking at the deck! :)
Doubling Season is better and no room for it.
Corpseweft is an interesting card but ultimately I don't think it's worth it for this deck. Glad you like it and thanks for the feedback! :)
Made a few more changes, should work slightly faster now..Changed up land base to have more basic lands as well as more lands that turn into creatures.Dropped 2 Isochron Scepter for 2 CultivateDropped 2 Cyclonic Rift for 2 Lightning BoltLet me know what you think. Need to play test more to see if it's beneficial but I think these changes make it slightly better.
This deck has undergone an overhaul. It's now a Gruul deck instead of a Jund deck and is more aggressive. We'll see how it works, should be better though.
