Groundswell is infinitely better than Mutagenetic Growth, though together, with a Glistener Elf, you can deal lethal turn 2 infect (you need 2 groundswell in hand to do it)

Darkslick Shores is also a B/U dual land in the Modern format. should be able to get them cheap. Breaking//Entering is also a good mill card

good luck. nothing "replaces" her at 3 mana, thats why shes a $50 card. Use Geralf's Messanger. hes probably the next best black 3 drop

are there a lot of non land permenants youre worried about that tapping solves your concern? this kind of deck needs to conserve mana where it can. Gridlock may be good early, when there are only 2 creatures to tap, but once the game gets going Blustersquall is a MUCH better option. especially with electromancers out.

interesting theory. it seems you are correct. I doubt you came up with it though, as there is a fairly effective mordern deck using the same idea...either way, thanks for bringing this up

if a creature with Undying AND Persist dies, it is returned to the battle field with a +1/+1 counter AND a -1/-1 counter. the player controlling the permenant gets to decide the order the counters are placed, but you dont get to intentionally skip a trigger. the second time it would die, it would stay dead.

did you read Aetherling? are you familiar with the fact that if it resolves, it is nigh on impossible to deal with? are you aware that it is litterall a 3 turn clock? its the only necessary win condition in this control deck.

Gift of Orzhova wants to be Armadillo Cloak, but without green in the deck, its a solid replacement. certianly better than Moment of Heroism, plus, it buffs Ethereal Armor.
also, I would sideboard Tribute to Hunger, to change out with Ultimate Price for games against Hexproof. also SB Glaring Spotlight, for the same reasons.

he has Crackling peremiter to deal direct damage, assmble the legion to poop out little chump blockers to extend the game, Curiousity for a draw engine on a stalker should he not be able to get an armor out early, Sphere of safety and Cuse of exhaustion to slow the opponent down...the deck is set up as a control base with a potential aggro wincon.
