Ah, I didn't know you were going for a Standard T2 deck. In that case, thumbs up.
Good Vamp Standard. Nothing fancy, and the Bond/Tribute combo should work. Thumbs up.
I like it a lot too. +1. Very similar to my Vamp deck, although mine isn't Standard so there's a bit more to it. Check it out and give feedback if you want. Deck link: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=38909
Angel - that is my point. You aren't using her ability, but you are still paying for her. Sengir Vampire gives you the same exact thing for 1 less casting cost.
First impression: Breeding pit costs two black mana per turn, since you are playing a 2 color deck, devoting 2 black per turn cuts considerably into your black mana availability. Aside from that this looks like it is a creature-based deck with potential, but could be optimized. Have you actually played this deck in this format? I am interested to know how your games go.
Why Vein Drinker if you no red mana? Might as well trade it for a different Vamp like Sengir Vampire.
woops, sorry for the double post
I'd drop some spells for some extra Vamps. Like Child of Night, Blood Seeker or Sengir Vampire. Aside from that I like it.
Thanks very much. I will check it out.
I just realized that putting Dragonspeaker Shaman would help out with that issue
Heavy hitters. I like it a lot. My only concern would be the fact that all of your creatures have high casting costs (4 total or greater) meaning that it could take a while for you to start getting them out. Have you run in to trouble with this at all?
I would personally drop the Hexmages for and additional Bloodwitch and 2 more Nocturnus. I am also not a fan of Bloodghast and would consider trading them for Child of Night or Bloodseeker. I am also anti-Planeswalker but that's because I am old-school, so I won't give any negative comments on that. Overall, for a tourney based on Zendikar only, this is a good deck.
Okay, changes have been made based on comments. Some Artis and Dark Ritual/Drain Life have been sideboarded based on who I am playing (see my issue with the Direct Damage person I play). What do we think?
Very tight deck. Really good stuff.
To cut it down I was thinking the following: Remove: -Fountain of Youth -Ivory Tower -Zuran Orb -2 Fear -2 Raise Dead -2 Howl from Beyond -1 Dark Ritual Ivory Tower et al. are currently in the deck because the person I play most against is running a Direct Damage deck, so if a few Lightning Bolts and others come out early, I end up losing hit points very fast. Tower, Fountain and Orb keep me more "in the game". I could side-board them.... Do we think that is a better idea? That would drop it to 69 cards. I considered Vampire Nocturnus but withheld it because I was close to 80 cards already and had been playing a Vamp deck without him that was doing well. I could add him back now, but then that gets the card count higher again. Same thing with adding 2 more Blade of the Bloodchief in. I like this feedback. More please! What cards should be added/dropped?
Okay, I am liking this feedback. I have specific cards that I would select to take out, but I'd like to hear what you guys think. Which cards would you drop?
I have not seen Lifelink stack before...
I like it.
