Yard hate is a problem, RiP shuts down most of the deck. 19 lands seems very greedy in a deck that wants to play more then 1 spell a turn, and don't forget that what you traverse for you normally want to play the same turn. There are no man lands that I'm really interrested in playing in this build, the grindy bits of this deck is in the SB = Souls + Fulminator.

I completely disagree on the land count. With 2 GQ, Vault and 3 man lands main, 23 lands seems spot on, (obviously Marsh Flats would help, but if you don't own any you use what you have). In lieu of LotV I love the use of Gideon MB, a resolved Ally completely takes over most midrange fights! One minor SB change I would consider is to pull a Blessed Alliance for another Stony, with the amount of potential life gain and proactive cards in the main I doubt Burn will have a decent vin % against you so I'd rather add another proactive card that makes you stronger against Affinity and post SB Eldrazi Tron.Great build, all around!
Butcher is a strange one in Modern. You would think every tokenish deck would love him but yet he sees no play. I'm guessing it has to do with no ramp in Mardu and no serious mid range shell existing that can reliably cast him... Now I might have to brew up something! ;-)
Thanks, I love Bob and have a soft spot for the "new kid on the block" Flayer and the "old stalwart" 'goyf and their synergies. Seems a shame not to play them together.
Like the E-Wit main, ballsy! Might want to trim a couple of the limited removal, (Push & Decay), for instant speed Titan killers like Go for the Throat or Cut. Also pretty sure Bog should not be in the main. How has the Quagmires been working for you? Every time I've tried them I almost always wish they were something else when I draw them.
WB without Path or Push seems bizarre...
Yea, Tas was a brain fart. An Angler is what needs to be in here to beat up on opposing Tasigurs.
Looks pretty good!Mana base: Cut a Mountain for a Swamp as black is your main color. Dragonskull should probably be a fast land.9 critters seems light, a Tasigur should probably be in here, he gives you something to do with your mana mid-game. I'd probably cut a Bolt or some other removal for him.Zealous Persecution SB seems very strong, might even be strong enough to run 1 in the main.
Spirit is at best a SB card as very few decks play sweepers main. Swiftspears interaction with Champion and Leutenant, plus Mayor, is far more important then her Prowess. You should still run Kytheon though, maybe pull some Brawlers...
Where is Taylor Swiftspear?
Yea, Black and Green In Modern are by far the cheapest color pair...
On second thought, you should probably play Toolcraft Exemplar in here to.
I'm happy it works for you.I'd probably start with lowering the curve by adding something like the Inspector for a 1 drop that gives you card draw later when you are sitting around waiting for a land drop. 3 Statuary seems way to many and in the sample hands I drew there was always dead cards in my hand as a result of drawing multiple Angels or Augmenters that the Expertise can't cast. I'd trim some of those to lower the curve.Something like that, or add more removal to control the board until you get to 4-5 mana. Or both...?
You Fling it in response to it dying anyway, or as a finishing touch. Unlike Goblin Grenade it is an Instant.
Your curve seems incredibly greedy. I did a few sample hands and the deck litterally does nothing for the first few turns, (really bad in a meta full of turn 4 combo and a slew of aggro decks). You basically have to revamp it to either be faster or more controlling so you can be alive when your servos hit the table. I think it needs a complete redesign...Just my opinion.
How about tweeking this towards the +1/+1 counter Hardened Scales/Winding Constrictor decks, (Snek), being played in Frontier and Modern right now? Should be easy to start it out as a budget deck and then if it turns out she likes it you can take your time and slowly build it towards a competitve and format specific version as neither of those formats rotate.Another super friendly format for the budget minded is Pauper where only common cards are legal. Fun decks can be built for $10-$15, the super competitive ones will run you as little as $50-$60 each. That is some cheap entertainment right there!
Gorilla Shaman out of the board destroys opposing artifact lands. Electrickery is a must against aggro and Delver. Pyroblast is needed against control and a Relic or two should be included against other graveyard decks.
There has to be room for Fling somewhere in the main! :)
I tried out Bitterblossom as you suggested and found that it works great in my Junk version of this deck as that is even more grindy then the Jund version, (and does not have access to Seal of Fire). Thanks for the tip!
Keeping it budget themed I'd drop in a couple of man lands instead of basics for when you flood, yank 2 Electrolyze for the full set of Abbot and shave some counters for Izzet Charm.Good Luck.
