Sadly. I don't actually have access to Skype, otherwise I would LOVE to get in on this. :) but I will pass it on.

Well, I was asked to pass this along.. . please read the description for clarification:http://www.mtgvault.com/kjsj3/decks/would-you-like-to-play-a-game/
So, can I search for them with cards like evolving wilds or pretty much any card that states that I can search for a basic land? because that would be fantastic. as far as I am aware... I cannot do that since they are NOT basic lands.However. as I said, as far as I was aware, they didn't apply. And as I also stated: if anyone can show me the official ruling that sates that I am wrong, then I would be happy to concede the point. However, even taking into account that they are considered mountains, they aren't enough to kill your opponent with valakut. since you have to play 5 mountains before valakut starts dealing damage that leaves you with only 5 more mountains. and last time I checked 5 times 3 was only 15. which leaves you 5 damage (or 2 mountains) short of a kill. sure, you can lightning bolt them twice, and the deck "works" to get the kill... but I am saying that it could work better. and could be improved.Once again, I was in no way trying to put anyone down, nor was I attempting to insult anyone. please learn how to do basic math before YOU post. do not blindly insult in ignorance.
yeah, its all good. Everyone misses stuff sometimes. people are only human.
sounds good. thanks. :)
Why did I get downvoted? I didn't insult anyone did I? I didn't say that the deck was garbage... and in fact I like the deck. can't people take constructive criticism? gosh...and no, there are not 10 mountains in here, there are only 2, because the shock lands are not double basic lands. otherwise they would be worth WAY more than they are. actual double basic lands are worth hundreds of dollars. But, like I said, I am not 100 percent certain of that, so I might check the official rules. and if I am wrong, then I am wrong and I take that part back.now with that in mind, even if they are counted as mountains, having 10 of them still isn't enough. since you have to play 5 BEFORE any damage is actually dealt. so the 6th land on deals damage. which means that only 5 lands actually deal any damage... so no... my statement STILL stands correct either way. There still aren't enough mountains to kill your opponent with solely with Valakut, which seems to be what you are implying that the strategy is.
oh yeah, I was thinking of the other starfish... :)
true... I hadn't thought about Intangible Virtue. good call. :) lots of 1/2s!!!!!!!! :)
I am curious as to why you are running valakut here, when you don't have enough mountains to trigger its ability. it is a completely dead card in this deck. non basic lands don't count towards it reqs as far as I am aware, so... having it is here doesn't make any sense to me.
That makes sense. And the starfish concept is pretty cool. All that you would need to do is add either cathars crusade, or coal of arms. Either of those would make this deck a force to be reckoned with. :) with the scry to made sure that you draw everything that you want... It would make your opponent just laugh at how well it works. :)
perhaps double cleave?
Yes, but isn't it more fun when they are also an effective deck? And honestly it wouldn't take much for this deck. :). It would be very fun to play with I think. :)
Kind of, but my goal isn't to have my opponent handless, just not able to play cards. perhaps it might be good for discarding cheaper and faster cards... I will think about it. :)
hmm... I just guess that I don't care for the more random nature of the decks... but perhaps I will give it a try some time. :)
yeah, that makes sense. You have enough low CMC cards that it shouldn't mess with your curve too badly, and overall Cunning Lethemancer is a much more effective card. probably a good call. :)Ok, kind of random question: what is the draw of EDH/Commander? It just seems so difficult to build anything really effective, seeing as how everything has to be singletons. What makes it an interesting format?
Lol... yeah, it is. Didn't even think about that. :)
I am confused... it looks like it doesn't really do much... sure it puts out starfish tokens I guess... and depending on what starfish you are copying, you can scry a TON, which is awesome, but you only have 1 creature with a power, and it is only a power of 1... My suggestion is that you throw in something like cathar's crusade, or coat of arms. something like that could make this deck very powerful actually. :) Yay for starfish!!!
Thanks. :) can you think of any way to improve it?
Well... It WOULD work. But it also adds another card for me to have out, which adds another turn to go off. This deck went from a 2 card infinite combo, (because only 1 of the pages for Candelabra has the erratad rules) to a 5 card combo, which is counting the 3 (instead of 1) lands it needs because of Filigree Sages' 3 mana cost for its ability.so while the Follower + bracers is technically cheaper manawise to actually use... it seems like it costs me an extra turn and adds an extra color. I don't have any green in here as of right now... would the lack of needing extra land make up for needing another piece out? that is a tough call... and now that I think about it... I pretty good suggestion. What do you guys think?
but it is cheap. um.... I don't know. perhaps gibbering descent? it is fairly expensive for what I does. although the skipping of your upkeep IS really nice with all of the cards losing you 1 life every turn... hmm... I really don't know. this is kinda out of my normal build type. um... is black cat really all the useful for its mana cost, in comparison to some of the more mana heavy cards in here?
