Well, most of that means blue instead of black. Was avoiding Bant, but the more I think about it, the more Bant seems to be the best. Still going to keep the Ravnica duals + Arbor Elf thing, because Noble Hierarch costs WAY TOO MUCH MONEY!!!

- Dimir House Guard
+ Pear Through Depths
- Removal (Path stays)
+ Counter / Draw / Scrying

6-7 flicker creatures
5-6 threats

How's that?

Been tinkering with a way to make Dubious Challenge viable in Modern. I found that you NEED to run Flickerwisp / Glimmerpoint Stag in order to get what you really want from Dubious Challenge. Problem I'm having is getting the quantity of Flickerwisp / Glimmerpoint Stag and big beasties to balance. Criticism is appreciated:

Parallax Tide is fun and all, but it and Chain of Vapor are the only things stopping this from being Modern legal.

I remember there being a mini landfall combo when original Zendikar was Standard legal, but I forgot the names of the cards involved. After some searching I found the key creature from the combo: Ruin Ghost. With the Ghost and Retreat to Coralhelm out, because lands don't normally suffer from summoning sickness, you can get infinite landfall triggers. Although, this would require you to play White, but that does open you up to cards like Steppe Lynx; Emeria Angel; and Retreat to Emeria.

Boomerang or Echoing Truth would be a good Modern replacement for Chain of Vapor.

Copter isn't budget friendly

At the common level, Renegade Freighter is by far the most aggressive vehicle. With Depala and / or Veteran Motorist, the +1/+1 bonuses and it's own trample makes quick work of most opponents.

Might I suggest adding a set of Evolving Wilds? This will help get the colour mana you need and lessen the number of lands you see off Depala and Veteran Motorist's abilities.

That's not a problem for when you combo off. Just put the one with less loyalty into the graveyard, then use the new one to make a copy of itself. Repeat until the opponent doesn't have a library.

There's a clause on her [-2]; "...except it's an artifact in addition to its other types." This means that the copy is a legal target for her own [-2]

Survival Cache isn't doing much here. You don't have anything that gives an added bonus for gaining life. What you need is a way to fetch key creatures, and the first card that comes to mind is Commune with Nature. Another is Congregation at Dawn.

Thinking about how to get to 5+ lands asap, I realised that the Valakut decks use some of the fastest land acceleration cards. Just imagine this:

T1- Land, Suspend Search for Tomorrow [1 land]
T2- Land, Explore / Sakura-Tribe Elder (Sacrifice Elder after blocking or at the end of the opponent's turn.) [3 Lands]
T3- Cast Search for Tomorrow, Land, Whatever gets a boost from 5+ lands [5 lands]

Leyline of the Void mainboard? If you're concerned about Tentacruel (and the like), Surgical Extraction might be more reliable.

I'm currently playing a Boros Midrange Control deck myself. This is what mine currently looks like:

And this is what I'm building towards (I'm missing some cards):

The combo revolves around putting +1/+1 counters on the Sage, so Hardened scales could help here.
Ring of Evos Isle; Forced Adaptation; and Primal Cocoon trigger in your upkeep, So paradox Haze can help speed things up.

Nice deck. The only card I really have a problem with is Crossroads Consecrator. You have to spend precious mana to use its ability. If it was straight tap (no mana), I'd like it more.

Have you considered Evolving Wilds? Helps with mana fixing and thins lands out of the deck, making it less likely to draw unwanted lands.

Though I've seen this before, I feel like 4 copies of Desperate Ritual, or at least 3, could help you to Breach more reliably. I know you can Splice it onto the Shoal, Vengeance and Breach too, but I feel increasing its number will add to the Consistency.

Night's Whisper seems like an odd inclusion. Personally I'd swap it out for 1/2 more Desperate Ritual and 2/3 copies of Insolent Neonate, which gives another option to get Griselbrand into the graveyard on turn one.

There's no need for double strike. Or any other cards.

Griselbrand is in here for the draw, which is normally cheated in via Goryo's Vengeance.
Worldspine Wurm is to be exiled to Nourishing Shoal to gain more life to draw more cards off Griselbrand.
With enough cards drawn, you should be able to Breach Borborygmos Enraged into play, then you discard all your lands to his ability.

Would be nice if this was explained in the deck description. I only know how it works because I've seen it in action.

Sadly, Sigil of Sleep isn't Modern legal. The next cheapest (mana wise) modern legal blue aura card that does the same is Ophidian Eye, which, thankfully, has flash. Going green gets you Keen Sense, which is a direct colour shift of Curiosity.

Going UR opens up space for some interesting blue cards:

Curiosity on any of the Ping'ers is good for keeping the hand full.
Goblin Electromancer allows for some more expensive instants and sorceries.
Izzet Charm gives some nice versatility .

Guttersnipe would be a good replacement for Cinder Pyromancer if we go UR.

Temur Battle Rage - {1}{R} instant granting doub strike with a chance for trample too, which you should be getting with no problem. The trample part is especially useful as it's another way to get around chump blockers.

Evolving Wilds / Terramorphic Expanse can help thin your deck of lands, making it less likely to draw unwanted lands off the draw cards.

Accumulated Knowledge / Take Inventory might be better than Words of Wisdom as the opponent doesn't get to draw cards.

For sideboard, Electrickery and Mizzium Skin are worth considering.

Harvester of Souls or Grim Haruspex?

Dark Prophecy can do the same job too.

Just checked. All 3 of these "draw for creatures dying" cards are under $1 a card.
