If you don't think Emrakul is disturbingly overpowered, Then im afraid you may not have the right idea about the game in general. Yes there are ways to deal with him, but not as many as you make it seem. You would pretty much have to design a deck to keep him out of play....and if you made one slip up, Hes in and simply with Haste, there goes 12 of your permanents. Totally ignoring any damage he can do, Cheating him in in the 4th turn would very easily remove all chance of winning against him. Its not any one of his abilities, Its how they all interact. All that, at that price? Im seriously fucking impressed. WOW.
Not sure how people missed these...They are some of my old favorites. Guilty Conscience + Stuffy Doll = Infinite Damage Pentavus + Mana Echoes + Orochi Hatchery = Infinite 1/1 snakes, add in Coat Of Arms for Inf/Inf That one migt be a bit long, but i've pulled it off numerous times. Wanderwine Prophets + Whispersilk Cloak + Infinite turns and damage if you have 2 Mana out.
As long as the group isnt overpowering themselves with lots of Mox and Power 9s....There is absolutely no reason to even look at the banned list. Sitting around a table playing is about as far from a Tournament you can possibly get....So why not drop a few jaws with a 4 drop Emrakul? Emrakul is retarded anyway. In order of power there are things like Grizzly Bears (Low), Goblin Chieftan (mid), Jace, Mind Sculpter (Overpowered, but still playable), The power 9 (There is good reason why they are banned) then Emrakul (So far over the top its just pathetic). He should have never been made in the first place...But since he was, Use the bastard. Outside a Tournament, Its all good. Just remember though...Its all fun and games till someone gets their Ur-Golem's eye put out! ;)
Even though its not a Deck, It has passed 200 likes and continues to be front page. Id say, for something that doesnt have a single card posted, Its doing pretty damn good. Also, It has brought a few really annoying occurrences into the light, Which can now be more often prevented. Overall, Id call this page a pretty big Success.
Why do you not buy cards? Im not suggesting you spend hundreds of dollars on buying singles...But one or two every now and then would seriously improve your game, without spending too much.
Eldrazi Monument + Imperious Perfect means that you will always have an Elf to Sacrifice for it, So you dont have to worry about getting rid of your bigger elves.
Ok so its not IMPOSSIBLE to lose...But my opponent would have to wait to get the mana to play spells that Cant be Countered. When the new Ravnica comes out, its going to be a lot easier...Right now my biggest and almost only worry is Emrakul....But thats 15 Mana, so it should be decently hard to get out without being able to play mana accelerators first.
For being hard to Kill, There isnt much better than a Platinum Angel with some really good protection on her. So maybe go for Platinum Angel + Asceticism, and just to keep pissing them off when they try to Destroy Asceticism....Erayo, Soratami Ascendant, It says that when the 4th spell in a turn is played, it flips into an Enchantment that counters the first spell played each turn. Thats bad enough by itself, But if you also add Arcane Laboratory, Which is blue (might need to add in a splash of Islands) game is Over. Platinum Angel makes you not able to lose, Arcane Laboratory makes all players only able to cast one spell per turn, and a flipped Erayo, Soratami Ascendant means that the ONLY spell a person gets to play, is Countered. If you get all three out....Its literally impossible for them to beat you. Its a bit difficult to make it all happen, True....But i've done it a few times.
Immaculate Magistrate + Jorga Warcaller is one of the most Stompy elf combos that exist. Take a look at my Elf deck and see what you think....Its seriously vicious. But since its also a Total Cliche', i dont feel any pride in making it. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=379822
http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=379822 Turn 5 my board is full of at least 20/20s, and that can increase exponentially. Elves are too easy. Almost as bad as Slivers. Anybody can make a Bomb-ass Elf deck, So making this one felt kind of Dirty. I take absolutely no pride in how disgustingly awesome this deck is. Many before me have made decks almost exactly like it, And they did it without having previous Elf Knowledge.
It really is...Especially when you realize that they think once they play a Platinum Angel they are the Almighty Invincible MTG God. They simply don't see 1/10th of the things they should....like a simple Kill Spell........they are that new. My wife is different....Shes a Cold Hearted Combo Bitch when playing MTG. Shes evil enough to keep a whole hand full of counter spells, while whittling me to death with a 2/2 Unblockable. God i love that woman.
I Label mine Tournament Quality when i can get more than a 90% Win rate playing Double Goldfish. (Where i roll Two dice, and on a 1 i destroy my most valuable creatre, 2 Artifact, 3 lost 10 life, etc etc) When it can handle something that harsh happening every turn, It is worthy of being called Tournament Quality. Notice how very few of them i have (One...Just One, out of 43 Decks) LOL
Look, i disagree with some of what he said...But Bullshit? WTF are you talking about? Its not perfect, but its damn good ideas that any new player should take to heart. Seriously d00d...How can you say that? Thats Crazy Troll Logic!
I agree with about 90% of what you are saying....But you also have to realize that its not the only way to do things. Lets say, for example, You play with a deck like this every single time, and yes its good, but everybody knows that this is a very popular deck type, So there may be some surprises, but in the end you are only going to have 2 of a creature or something. You have made yourself so predictable at this point that they know if they can kill two of something, You wont have any more, and thats the game. While your way of building a deck does work very well, There are other ways. A deck full of Singletons wont be useless if 4 or 5 of them get destroyed. Even a deck with no discernible WinCon isnt always bad. If the enemy is looking for a WinCon, and cant find one, They cant react to straight up Burn or Combat damage. Im not saying there is anything wrong at all with how you build decks, Im just saying in this infinitely variable game, its not the End-All, Be-All of strategies.
Why not try a double dose of oddness and toss in a Platinum Angel?
This is the Second Revival of big Instagib decks from years ago...I wonder whats making them come back like this? This one was called simply Channel Fireball...But its in debate as to who first made it. I mean of course this isnt the EXACT same deck, but the important parts are all the same. The other i saw Recently was a copy of "Hulk Flash". These decks are the bane of any Vintage players existance, and are totally useless unless there is money at stake. But....If somebody is stupid enough to bet a decent bit of Cash on the game....When you whip this out on them, You could see them cry pretty easily. Its super vicious.
You can just buy a few. They arent very expensive. http://store.tcgplayer.com/magic/magic-2013-%28m13%29/stuffy-doll
Dual Lands: http://www.magicdeckvortex.com/visual_spoilers_lands_dual_color_lands.htm (Not sure how up to date they are)
With the number of Artifacts you have, Id suggest splashing in Blue and using Blighted Agent + Cranial Plating. In my Artifactory thats always a one hit kill, and usually 3rd turn or so. Even without Blighted Agent, Cranial Plating will DESTROY people with your infect. My Artifactory Prime: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=288022
