Yep. And trying to stall them until i can get those two cards out.
It doesn't stop people from playing cards, but Evil Presence/Contaminated ground slows their mana base. Especially if they are playing multi-colored decks or cards that cost 2 of same mana like counterspell/sign in blood.

It goes without saying...if i play against a black deck...then i am toast. lol

I immediately thought of Gitaxian Probe. But I wanted to try to keep it mono black (even though i would be paying the 2 life, not the blue mana). I stillmight consider it. For not, before i can test it, i went with Distress.

What would you take out, for it?

I will have to play test it, honestly, because I have not played it. But i should have loads of mana to feed into it. But i will test it out.

Been on a deck building craze of late. Not really tested or focused too hard on any certain deck. I got the black control one down from 130 to 30 bucks, though. So...going to test play it first.

I am sure yours is better :)

You know I have made a few decks lately, that need help. Hint. Hint. :)

Took out the Grindstone. That took the deck down 50 bucks. Now...what about Thoughtseize (i do not own any). I drop them, that is another 50 bucks.

I have them in for this...Thoughtseize and Duress lets me look at my opponent's hand. If I see an artifact/enchantment i take it out (because black has no enchantment hate), plus, it lets me know what sort of mana to cast with Chalice of the Void.

What could I do with replacing Thoughtseize? Do I just take Chalice out? For what, something that helps with a quicker lockdown? If I keep Chalice...do i add something like Blackmail in replace of Thoughtseize?

Maybe take out Chalice and Thoughtseize to run 8 discard spells, duress being 4. What would the other discard card be that best ensures I get to search for an artifact/enchantment. Cabal Therapy maybe is too tricky, maybe.

Yeah, I was confused with The Rack and Black Vise.
But yeah, may go with Ebony Owl Netsuke since The Rack is banned. Thanks for the advice, jerzeydevyl.

Black Vise is banned in Legacy...what about Iron Maiden or Ebony Owl Netsuke.

Let me ask you this...since you helped me understand the card better...why is The Rack rated lower?

If your opponent has 7 cards...looks like The Rack would do 4 damage and Black Vise would do 3 damage. Yet Black Vise is rated higher/better.

Black Vise is even banned in Legacy, but not The Rack...what gives?

And I put out the Challenge for the 2 cmc decks.

Or pay you pay chalice of the void for 2, you can take out any of the 2 cmc decks.

But...i was trying to make my opponent have to keep 7 cards in his hand (he can't play anything)...and then punish him for not being able to get rid of the cards in his hands.

Almost opposite of Black Vise.

Another question, Kazzong. Is there a card that is opposite of The Rack. Black Vise. Rackling?

Or some sort of card like, "Deal 2 damage (or 1, or 3) to your opponent for each card in his hand."

Is there anything like that?

That seems to be the issue, AustinGoldmane. I didn't think about it when i made the deck...now i am at a crossroads.

Redo the deck with different copy cards like Cackling Counterpart.
Or..readjust the deck for more bounce.

This deck is going to be in revision mode for a long time...because my mind is racing with all kind of new decks. I want to do Harry Potter themed decks. Already did Slytherin.
Plus I want to to a Contamination deck. I got one Contamination when Urza's Saga came out...and always wanted to do a deck around it. Just recently seen Ophiomancer. So, going there with it.

Plus, working on a Riverfall Mimic/Clout of the Dominus deck too.

Yep, my friend had me buy an Ensnaring Bridge for his discard deck. Bought it for 12 dollars, 2 months ago. I go online to look, and now the same damn Ensnaring Bridge is worth 20 bucks.

Yeah, it is brutal. He plays a deck that discards...but it is special because he does self discard too. LIke Delirium Skeins and Bottomless Pit. He discards all his damn cards, and yours then kills you with a damn Nihil Stone or Guiltfeeder (which can officially attack since his power is 0).

Black/red has trouble with stuff like that.

Void could change the game...probably not though, they will have their stuff out early.
Chalice of the Void is very nice, against decks you play over and over. But it takes it out of budget, because I think it is expensive.

I do know this about discard...it seems best with an all or nothing black approach at it.

I like Rakdos Ragemutt for the Lifelink.
Rakdos Ringleader if you continue with discard.

What did you play against, what was giving you trouble?

Looks decent enough, what was you thinking was weaknesses in this deck?
