That changed earlier this year.
Gauntlet of might is good for mono red.
though it doesn't matter as much in this deck.
Overrun maybe over predatory rampage? Also, primetime got the ban-hammer.
Soulcage Fiend is a boss
Ah, thought it might be a post-rotation deck; wasn't sure though.
Commented on your deck as well.
Blood Artist builds are probably better, but I prefer my Lightning Mauler build. Also, I've been trying to build around him (Mauler) in B/R for a while, so he's the entire reason for this deck.
Not sure how I would improve, though 4x Disciple seems iffy. Maybe take one out for a Solemn Simulacrum.
Basilisk Collar is awesome in archer tribals.
Check the oracle on Wizards for real creature types (including those not on card).
A few months, not weeks. Also, it is a bad idea in general to build post-rotation decks.
You may want to take out Tolarian Acadamy, Metalworker, and Sundering Titan since they are banned in EDH.
Flunkies are the best gobs in standard ATM. ._. Also Goblin Chieften should be in here over Fervor.
So far, I've seen a ton of love for the new Blue/White cards above. But how much love did they actually get? Odric is the only thing white gets (not even as good as hero), Ajani is overrated (and already dropping in price), and Blue is probably the second worst off color this set (other than red). No Leak, no Snag, no Ponder, no good Blue. Talrand is overrated, and Negate/Essence scatter will NEVER (don't pretend) replace Mana Leak, and Ponder is the best cantrip in standard right now and isn't coming back. However, that said, Auger of Bolas is AMAZING. There may be no game-changing blue in Return to Ravnica (even with Jace), since Wizards MIGHT have learned their lesson with Delver, Snapcaster, and JTMS over the past 2 rotations. The overall best color in the new set, from my perspective at least, is Green. I think Green got away with so much love in M13. Now, this may not be to obvious, but the best reprint in the set is Rancor (again, don't pretend), and Thragtusk is absurd. White won't be bad, per say, just unplayable in mono-white form. The best white card (if not the best overall) in standard is Restoration Angel, but it wants other colors to be with it. Until rotation, there are too many playable boardwipes in standard (Mutilate, BSZ, Bonfire, Whipflare, Slagstorm, and Day of Judgement) for White Weenies to work very well. Don't get me wrong, I think white is pretty much the most playable color in Standard, just not by itself, and the new white cards are pretty lackluster.
Gee, its too bad the whole point of mill is to kill not through general damage, or I'd like Phantasm. Jace has been around us long enough that we know he's not good outside mill. Talrand is ok, but he's not very good when you consider the fact that you have to drop him behind protection, or he dies right away (unless you use phyrexian mana spells).
But the deck might be even less viable then. buying cards that are viable now then selling closer to rotation is a better investment than gambling that a less useful card now will become viable in the future.
Also, Idyllic Tutor is good, since it can tutor enchants.
Horn of Greed is a fun card, as is Howling Mine/Temple Bell/Font of Mythos. Also, wrath effects are a must for Tempting Wurm shenanigans. If you want to be able to counter without drawing as much hate, I recommend Dream Fracture. Finally, Jace Belern draws lots of love with his +2.
