Thanks Cabbage. I always appreciate your advice :) I'll look into making some of the changes you suggested, but not now (I'm a little busy). The cards in here are what I came up with at work, so I wasn't concentrating properly :p

Good idea, adding 2 now :p

I "mill" the opponent to death.

The extraction lessens the number of cards in the opponent's library.

The discards sets up the opponent to be extracted with Surgical Extraction and Extirpate. The discard also slows down what gets played.

The global destruction gets rid of creatures that do manage to come out, setting them up to be extracted.

Elixir both replenishes the library and counteracts the lifeloss from drawing extra cards (Phyrexian Arena)

The Vivid's are (IMO) not good here because they "enter the battlefield tapped" and that'll slow you down.
A friend runs a Zur deck (also non EDH) and he runs Ancestral Mask in his (with Seaside Citadel for if the mask is ijn hand). He also uses Vadalken AEthermage as a 'tutor' for Zur (it has wizardcycling).

I understand your concern on the Moxes and I've been thinking about it myself. The artifact base was based off of the Tempered Steel build and they use Moxes, but I'll probably end up replacing them with the Perylous. Galvanic Blast I'll keep on the off chance I actually do get metalcraft (it's better than Shock in that aspect) :p

Those are good suggestions, but white also gives a little more surprise with cards like Cho-mano's Blessing (I think I spellt that wrong) and it has enchantment search (more tutoring FTW :D ). If I do go for the whole creature sacrifice thing, I'd use Crypt of Agadeem too :p

Well there is Songs of the Damned that TheChurchIsHere suggested and Crypt of Agadeem, but both need creatures in the grave.

I'm considering building this deck. After some of my key cards in my goblin deck cycled out of standard, I've been looking for another red deck to play and this deck mite end up being just that :p If I do end up playing this, it will undergo modifications after playtesting.

Low cost mana isn't necessarily 'the way to go', but it is my preferred style :p
I also use big mana cards in some of my decks, but that depends on the card's ability. I also use low mana cards to assist the higher mana cost cards.

As good as the card is, at 4 mana it doesn't quite fit what I'm trying to achieve. With how cheap (mana wise) the deck is, the land search isn't needed and I've already got draw in Ichor Wellspring :)

Hmmm... A control deck... the type I'm not too good at building or playing with, but I absolutely enjoy playing against :p

A 'fog' on a scepter is something I've always wanted to do. Dam you for making it work :|

Personally I'd have Thoughtseize mainboard and Surgical Extraction. The Surgical's are to permanently get rid of some of the more nasty cards.

No problem, glad I could be of assistance :D

Feel free to comment on any of my decks. Stick to the more recent ones, it's easier than going through the lot. I consider any advice and critique as useful, even if I don't use or respond to the advice and critique :p

Will do.

Gate Keeper's not bad. Try not modify too much just yet, playtest a bit first to see what works and what you're lacking.

As for 'deck thinning', I feel with your search and draw you shouldn't need it. It's more for decks that need to increase their luck in 'luck of the draw'.

Dash Hopes looks good on paper, but previous experience with "looks good on paper" is that they often aren't good in practice (*cough* Talara's Battalion *cough*). I have yet to test the Dash Hopes I have, so let me get back to you on that.

Now for Sideboard you mite need grave hate for reanimator and Dredge. Tormod's Crypt works nicely for this. You're playing mono black, so Iona mite be a problem (if for some reason you can't force her to be sacrificed) so Act of Aggression to steal her for one turn (her ability only affects opponents) or Phyrexian Metamorph to make a copy and kill her (she is legendary). Then Dash Hopes could be a nice counter spell, I'm not sure how it'll work as I havn't tested the set I just got. Also Damnation mite be nice if the opponent can produce quicker than you can force the sacrifice.

Looking good. Typhoid Rats is a nice 1 drop that deters the opponent's attacks, thus keeping your life total up :) , but this also depends on your opponent. I'd attack even if it just means getting rid of the rat :p Other than that, only playtesting will tell what is needed to improve.

You need target removal (Doom Blade, Go for the Throat, etc.) to get more consistent activation of the Morbid.

I like the combo.

Keeping 3 mana open with a Boros Fury Shield while they can see your hand (due to Enduring Renewal) will make the opponent think about attacking :p

Thanks man, makes me feel special to have others think I know what I'm doing in Magic :p

Ok, Falkenrath Noble (IMO) costs too much.
Geth's Verdict is (IMO) better than Tribute to Hunger, it's cheaper (mana wise).
You need a secondary creature that says "sacrifice a creature: ...", maybe Carrion Feeder (it gets +1/+1 counters for sacrificing creatures) or Viscera Seer (nice for controlling the top of your library and digging for the rest of your combo).

Also Mortician Beetle would be awesome in a deck like this.
