Yes you will go into negative life when you're DEALT DAMAGE, but you can't pay life because you don't actually have any left. Ask any judge nick.

Thing is, when your at 0 life, you don't have life to pay...Spellskite won't work after you have less than 0 life. I would splas black to add an Abyssal Persecutor just to be a straight up bitch about it. :]
You can actually get poison counters, because Melira says that creatures your opponents control LOSE infect, and Phyrexian Unlife says all damage is dealt to you AS THOUGH its source had infect, so it doesn't actually have any infect to lose...The deck is still great and Soul Conduit just kills it with an added fuck you, haha. I've already heard the Melira/Unlife but never thought of the Conduit.
Memnarch is colorless so you can only use colorless cards and your lands can only produce colorless mana. Nice try though.

Maybe because you can proliferate it, you can sac it to the Throne when it runs out of counters and it can tap down your Contagion Engine...

I have two foil ones and they look great!
Take out Kozilek since you can't draw cards, make room for 4 It That Betrays, take out Elesh Norn and Jin-Gitaxias, you should probabaly have 4 Birds or Treespeakers and have more of each Chancellor
Take out the Hands and the Rats and add four of the Phyrexian Crusader and Plague Stingers.
It may be a creature type, but the card type doesn't say 'creature', Dryad Arbor is a Land Creature, so you could try that but it still wouldn't work because of the Mono artifact.
