Also, what do you mean by "Split Second doesn't even do anything when you have the Voidmage Prodigy on the board"? You can't respond to anything with Split Second, or while a spell with Split Second is on the stack.

Snapcaster Mage + Mimic Vat is worth having. Throw a Clone on a Vat and kill generals!
Mana ramp is to get shit like Protean Hulk out FASTER, not to make sure you get it. Most games with mono green will become a race, and the faster you get your big, fat creatures out, the more chance you have of winning. As for GSZ/Chord of Calling, they aren't fast enough. They make things cost more, and the Chord doesn't let you attack. I'm not sure about this, but Protean Hulk might be banned in modern, so that would be straight up casual.
OH! Aaand, Dryad Arbor + Volrath's Stronghold + Bob = Hax
For my modern deck, I was thinking of splashing white for KoTR. It would mean less basics, possibly, but a better variety of land...obviously. What do you think?
