Oh, no doubt. It's a really good dude. But it doesn't jive with the deck mechanics of Phoenix, Fiend and Shrine.

Trying to avoid too many creatures, in favor of things that have good synergy with sorc/instants. I even pulled Spitfire because it didn't quite jive.

Look into Brimstone Volley it's REALLY good with Goblin Grenade, I'd also go -1 Valakut and +1 Mountain. It doesn't do you any good to have Valakut out if it's not triggering.

Shapeshifters of note some are Changelings (and thereby count as Ninja's for Higure).

Mothdust Changeling

Whittling down to 60
Ornithopter looked good in theory. But it's card space.

Kraken Hatchling provides no threat, as good as it is for dealing with aggro.

Consuming Vapors is really good, but it's expensive so getting rid of two won't set you back that badly.

Typhoid rats, they're cool but unnecissary in this curve. Try it this way after the above changes if you want 60 cards.

-4 Ornithopter
-4 Kraken Hatchling
-2 Consuming Vapors
-4 Typhoid Rats

For some more bounce consider Into the Roil in place of Vapor Snare, it costs the same but has a kicker option to draw a card rather than the -1 life.

This is good as you already have living creature bounce. It will allow more ways to deal with just about anything.

-2x Kaijin of the Vanishing Touch
-2x Shape Stealer

+4x Kraken Hatchling
This dude is WAY better in early game except in really select situations, not many.

-4x Bile Urchin
+4X Tormented Soul

Why? They're frankly quite weak. I get the fact they cause life loss but it probably won't be a game changer.
B and is 1/1 unblockable, the trade? Cannot block. Pretty much shadow in most decks.

-2x Skullsnatcher
-2x Okiba-Gang Shinobi

+2x Throat slitter
+2x Mistblade Shinbo

Why? I know they provide you a better mana mix but you don't need 50/50 if your only black mana comes from shared mana lands. These dudes keep enemy dudes off the table. No blockers=win.

-4 Virulent Swipe
+2 Sharpened Pitchfork
+2 Swiftfoot Boots or Mask of Avycyn

You probaly don't need to worry about death touch, there's a ton of removal already. Most of your attacking dudes are human. Giving them first strike and +1/+1 is going to help a lot. It's a fair bit cheaper than No-Dachi to equip as well. The final choice of equipment (meeting the threshold of 6 total) provides Hexproof and either Haste or +1/+2. Both are fine but I like the boots personally as they help get your groove back after a board wipe.

-4x Doomblade
+4x Consuming Vapors

Why? Consuming vapors gets rid of shit you can't target. And it does it twice. Your ninjas can do the rest.

Other strong cards

Dimir Infiltrator BU 1/3 unblockable with Transmute 1BU. He's a pretty solid choice for the mana.
Vedelkin Ghoul is another good one BU 1/1 that does causes 4 life loss if tapped.

The Ornithopters are still VERY good and with this set up you'll have 12 dudes that are just really there to get your ninja's on the inside. That said you've got a LOT of cheap guys in this build 16 on 1 or less mana. If you can afford it Delver of Secrets can fill practically the same role and is a stand alone threat. Vault Skirge or Spined Thopter come out quite cheaply and fly as well, they're threats on stand alone using phyrexian mana.

Kraken Hatchling check it out. It's a 0/4 for 1 and does not have defender. It's really good vs aggro. Bolt doesn't kill it. AND it can swing to get you some ninja's on the board.

For better duel lands use Drowned Catacomb*4 and drop your other duel land, also look at Creeping Tar Pit (2 of? for late game) and Darkslick Shores (4 of since this deck wants to get online fast).

In the latest set there are some R/W and B/W lands to use they are Clifftop Retreat and Isolated Chapel respectively. These will go a long way to fixing your wight heavy mana without denying you B or R. Also look at some fetch lands (Arid Mesa, Marsh Flats) and or old duel lands (Mountain Plains, Godless Shrine) having as many as 6 fetch and 8 of the old duel lands would be a very strong way to expand your mana base, again while keeping white dominant.

Sword of Body and Mind + Phyrexian Crusader=4 colors. think about that with your Sword of War and Peace.

I'd actually say some BoP or some other method of accelerating Black mana, as well as at least +1 Birthing Pod. Because IMO you're never going to get off your combo of Phyrexian Obliterator and Prey Upon if you don't have a Pod out and with only 2 in deck that's something like turn 23.5 on average to see a Pod at all. Not to mention if it gets trashed.

With a dual color deck you're going to be just about as late having BBBBB available, unless you have mana ramp.
