I'd cut the basic mountains for copperline gorge's. The amount of test hands where I wished a basic mountain was a taiga were pretty high, and generally the drawback clause won't affect you too much.

Stifle currently is filling the role of Flusterstorm, while also being good against Shardless. I just want movable rocks to supplement the Trinket Mage package, as it's not easy to take them out of the deck when sideboarding for Storm, but it is easy to take out Needle and Explosives. I think bland chalice for 0 is solid, and provides synergy with a beater, and fits in well. Also, it notably stops Ancestral Visions, so that's cool.Out: 4 Swords, Jitte, Explosives, NeedleIn: 2 Stifle, 3 Thoughtseize, Chalice, Grafdigger's Cage
Update 1:Moved the Meekstone to the SB and replaced a Stoneforge with a Confidant, considering how equally good they are (and how bad extra Mystics are). Moved an extra protection piece, a Misdirection, to the main. Swapped Marsh Flats for Academy ruins. Altered SB composition by weakening board wipes to acknowledge Meekstone, altered grave hate, and added a Chalice.
I definitely like the idea of a playset of Bobs, but the Trinket Mage has been serving me very well so far. It supplements the lack of Termini by giving me both answers to the likes of Elves and TNN. The Needle has proven itself many times, mostly by turning off Liliana or Thespian Stage. The only super likely cut is Meekstone, but again, the lack of Terminus is giving me a fear of the likes of Reality Smasher (yeah, that things a beast) or TNN. The Meekstone just has to sit there while I balance with a Batterskull on a Strix. That said, it could just go on the SB, for the sake of more Bobs. Also, I'm looking into trading for a Chalice, which would be killer on 0 against storm, and it can sit on the sideboard. The fact that Trinket Mage can tutor for it just seems gross.
Cool, thanks for the feedback. I do like the idea of going all out on the Confidant, but I also like the 40% opening Top ratio. It's definitely to be considered, and I can definitely try it. The Meek Stone would be the one to pull, but man is there a lot of TNN and Goyf in my meta. It works so well.As for the Academy Ruins, I'll throw one in, see if I like it. The interaction with Strix seems especially favorable against the likes of Shardless and Delver, and recursion is an engine I'm not to wary of.Yeah, I can see the Impulse out, I always have one as a pet card. I'll throw in another Predict just because you're right on it. As for the Counterspell, I'm unsure. While I like Pierce and Snare, this list goes wide and long. The superfluous Counterspell (beyond the Forces) is to complement my lack of Counterbalance, and to help me win a fight over a large Entreat. I had a pierce in at first, but found that it was... lacking. They'd have 2-7 mana up whenever there was something worth countering when I had it, due to game length. Still, not a bad suggestion. And thanks, although Stony Silence and Null Rod seem a bit loose considering my mainboard. XDI'm digging through my stuff for a Nihil Spellbomb right now, I like that idea over the second cage. Deals with Punishing Fire cleaner. XD
I NEED CRITICISM.
4-0 at a 16 man swiss standings. Very pleased with the deck, beat one of those Junk value decks that are all the rage these days.
The deck pulled first in a 24 Modern with a 6-1-1 record in its current iteration, played against a healthy variety of decks. Just thought I'd update with a comment.
Nope, you got it! I was just expressing approval, is all.
Indeed, I'm a fan of just one-for-one replacements with Serum. It is definitely not an "unplayable" card by any means.
All of my Modern decks have been crippled with this banning, but my legacy became super duper interesting. XDBut yeah, those Digs gotta be out by the 23rd.
Well, I hope you like it! It's always good to branch out a bit after a commander gets a bit stale. I've done it a lot.
Sweet, I'm doing the same. It seems so consistent! Of course, you can still run the four-of Splinter Twin, I just choose to play the control route a bit more because I find the games more interesting.Regardless, I wish you luck, I'm pretty stoked to see if this brewing works.
But, my friend, there are so many more wheels to abuse!Time Twister, Windfall, Whirlpool Warrior, Whispering Madness, Time Reversal, Time Spiral, Wheel and Deal, just to name a few in my Nekusar list.If your gonna Nekusar wheel, you have to have a lot of wheels. Speaking of which, dream halls is a neat little way to go wheel after wheel with Nekusar with little to no effort as long as you plan your color density right. Oh, and Consecrated Sphinx is damn good. Period. Those are my two cents, I love the deck. I've played him forever.
My only issue with more cryptics is strangely their cost. I have to get 2-3 red sources to win, and that is contradictory to the demands of the deck, as I have to get 3 blue sources as well. In a format where conserving health is actually beneficial, I'd rather avoid too much blue dependency. That said, it is the best counterspell in modern, and the proportions are definitely in testing. The same goes for Twin, which is only two of because of the tutor potential. Thanks for the insight, I'll keep it in mind while I tune it next week.
7 assuming no prior damage or lifelink. Mentioning that, though, ten does seem a bit... Lacking.
Hello there!I know it's a bit random of me to pop in on this deck after it got neglected so long, but I want to pitch to you an idea. I have recently created my own Grixis Control/Twin deck, sorta a coincidence that this one exists as well, except I was brewing a rather roguish idea. I want to use the card "Mystical Teachings" to fetch out Exarch, Teferi, and then using Teferi's clause I'll get Kiki-Jiki. It's a bit ambitious, but it totally works, and the process doesn't have to be so complex. Teachings can work as a toolbox solution if you can't win that way, and the sideboard can move you into control deck territory. Whatcha think? Here's a list for reference; http://www.mtgvault.com/tmw30/decks/twin-teachings/The only reason I'm self advertising is because I want you to see the idea, and it's hard to just say "try mystical teachings". Tell me what you think, I feel the idea has potential, but I haven't been yelled at by enough people with Splinter Twin decks (I'm an old school control player). Thanks, and I of course like your deck!
I've seen yours, can you critic mine? It's a bit... weird, but I think it's quite sick.http://www.mtgvault.com/tmw30/decks/twin-teachings/
Hm... the only thing I'm not too fond of is the omission of Mana Leak. While not necessary, it makes the game one of Splinter Twins bearable 13% of games. The 4 of Cryptic suite, while completely viable, is the only thing I'd tone down a bit. I'd go 2 Leaks 2 Commands, but that's just me. I like it, the Courser is interesting.
I suppose the nature of the swiss army knife warrants mention, but I don't know... Your argument about the counter swing being directed at him himself is actually quite interesting. I suppose to absorb a four-five point swing from delver should be considered stupendous, and I guess it would require some play testing to find merit in that. Still, I'd need to pilot it to find out percentages and what-not, it just seems bad to have your check/checkmate get caught by their previously dead spell pierce on turn four game one. I'll defer to your judgement for now, but I'll get my hand on some Zoo variants to check for myself soon.
