i'm sorry, but you're right. this deck used to run a land card called cabal coffers, and urborg helped out a bit against cards like blood moon so that the non-basics wouldnt just be useless mountains... sooo i guess i kept them in there out of habit... good catch

one more thing i'll say about cabal therapy. it says target PLAYER, not OPPONENT, so you can use it to get creats in the yard. hope this helps :)
btw, here is my response to your comment you made a month ago on my deck, reposted: i'm glad you like my deck and i really like your deck. first off, your choices for finishers such as platinum emperion and BotWD are interesting in their synergy and merit, but in a reanimator deck, there are so many finishers available, that tbh it all depends on personal preference what you run (and it's situational of course, you reanimate archon when fighting aggro or goblins, etc.) the purpose is to run a toolbox depending on meta and gameplan. second off, leyline shuts down my deck, but the purpose of the hybrid is to defend against this if you dont have answers sideboarded (or if you havent already thoughseized something like that or tormod's crypt etc.), you can rely on the painter/grindstone combo to pull out a win for you. phyrexian obliterator is an interesting ploy since i am monoB, but i feel it takes away too much room in the deck needed for the spells. if you check the curve, nothing exceeds 3cc (except for reanimation targets, but of course you're casting them for 3 or less mana or you need to L2reanimate lol). my main point here is that you need this MINIMUM of reanimation spells to keep consistency up. if you notice i have no tutors, so i need to draw my spells ye olde fashioned way. lastly, i prefer disruption to phyrexian obliterator, cause tbh in legacy, he is just too easily answered. now, your questions. cabal therapy is a prime disruption card and the original 1cc black discard spell. it simply rocks, it oozes flavor, and just has really good synergy with my deck. anyone i sac i can reanimate lol. other cards recommended for this slot is duress and it is sideboardable very easily. it is quite simply a (very good) filler card. urborg is for blood moon, a problem when you dont get an archon into play against gobby decks and such again, thank you, and i like your take on the archetype +1 :)
too many finishers, needs more disruption. remember, if your opponent is playing blue, he WILL have FoW and thoughtseize.card is all we have in MonoB to proactively fight this.

also, if counterspells are really your greatest worry, then discard like thoughtseize and duress and cabal therapy more than handily deals with the blue meanies. countering my rits just delays the inevitable
people too often rely on permission to control a game. good luck countering my flurry of reanimation spells, two mana and i can cast up to 4 reanimation spells a turn
thanks for your replies. i find that a deck with enough consistency can afford to allow MD slots for dark rit and gain a faster, more punishing game. they dont always have that counterspell in their opening hand lol
I like it. how successful has your playtesting been with it?
i love it, it's great
i would agree with you there, but here's a suggestion: try dark ritual, that might help.
nice deck, but i like my take on reanimator. why no dark rits though?
thanks i still cant believe how great both painter's servant and grindstone are in a reanimator deck. reanimate spell in hand but no targets in your graveyard? grindstone that shit and self mill until you hit one. dark rit of course can land both a servant and grindstone turn one, just one activation away from death, and dont even talk when you have more than one dark rit in your hand... this deck is absurd
i dont quite get why phyrexian warbeast is in the deck (other than the name) but this deck has an interesting concept, and it plays my favorite counterspell of all time, dash hopes :)
thank you :)
they usually do, but this deck has so much synergy that painter easily fuels an iona lockout and when you dont have that crucial spell you just resolve the painter and gridstone off a dark rit and your opponent auto-scoops. trust me, draw a few sample hands and have your mind blown by how fast this deck can just win
humans are the best. try splashing green for mayor of starbucks, he's a good lord and a tank when flipped. other than that, sword WP seems underwhelming
i'm sorry, this is the greatest goat deck i've ever seen: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=37335 ^ this deck was insane
no i gotcha mate, you can search up shock lands with farseek, niiice
