Drop both Jace's Ingenuity (WAYYY too expensive) and 1 Ponder, and make Preordain 4 total. Preordain is seriously one of the best cards ever, and only having 1 in isn't really going to help you. Scryyyyy away!! If you feel like you REALLY want those Ingenuity(s), drop 2 Ponders and replace with 2 Preordains, if you want it to look more balanced. Honestly though, the first suggestion (4 Preordains) will seal the deal for you. Deck manipulation for card advantage is extremely important!!! Illusion decks are extremely fun, check mine out if you feel like it! http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=211210

Kulrath Knight is cool but WAY too expensive to be in this deck... I'm going for the quick kill here. Blowfly Infestation is also really cool but again I don't really care about killing my opponent's creatures, I want to just kill him/her as fast as possible, and also the whole point is to not even have any -1/-1 counters on my persist guys. Thanks for the suggestions though!
Props on the Viscera Seer as a sac engine! Infinitely scrying is pretty ridiculously awesome. Even scrying once by smashing an extra Persist creature when you're looking for Melira is pretty awesome too lol. The diversity of lands is nice as well. I would maybe drop a Carrion Feeder for another Lightning Greaves for added early security. It would be interesting to play our Persist decks against each other!
It's about time those elementals got their turn to be baller! It's great to see Sundial of the Infinite getting good use
I have strongly considered Spell Pierce, but I'm not sure what I would replace. The only reason I'm hesistant is because it can only be used for noncreature spells, which is why I have Mana Leaks instead. I could possibly drop Mental and Gitaxian down to 2 each and throw in 2 Spell Pierces, but I'll have to play test more.
Absolutely! You could use that to make a variation on this deck that drops huge Eldrazi/artifact creatures on turn 3/4. I used to abuse Ashnod's Altar with Myr Retreiver and Disciple of the Vault for infinite loss of life in my old artifact deck.
I like the theme here for sure. Leaf Arrows would add to that theme, but would probably only be useful against specific decks. I would definitely drop the Sacellum Archers, since you don't have the red mana required to activate their 'archery' ability and you can find much more cost-effective three drops. You could possibly throw in some umbras (Hyena, Spider) for basically an extra life (for 1 mana!) on your more important creatures (Doyens.) This looks fun to play, those Greatbow Doyens are pretty amazing
B/W Bloodcrank deck******* don't know how that 'U' got in there lol
I'm still trying to decide if there is anything I can get rid of in favor of Asceticism... And you are dead-on with the Tormod's Crypt. It is absolutely crucial when milling people with pesky Eldrazi in their decks, but no one I play with IRL even uses any (or Surgical Extraction, for that matter). You can consider the Nature's Spiral(s) to be replaced in the SB with those if one of my circle ever did wise up and get some of those amazing cards. I use Nihil Spellbomb(s) in the SB for my Bloodcrank, since that's Standard and the whole win condition involves milling.
There are definitely plenty of good standard decks floating around on this site, even some that make the most popular list and, more often, the upcoming list. Check out my B/U Bloodcrank deck, it's a pretty effective Standard combo deck. Everyone and their mother has made a version of bloodcrank recently though, so I'm not surprised that it did not get anywhere near most popular lol
haha I appreciate the enthusiasm from both Ded and, a-hem, Wards (lol). I honestly didn't think this would work either when I first saw the potential combo, but as you have specifically shown (in case anyone else doesn't think this works, they can simply reference your comment :D) I looked up the ruling and immediately discovered that I could and should make this deck. I use Melira in multiple decks; I was already mostly using a green/white for casual and of course Phyrexian Unlife and Melira went right in there (aw, Melira has -insert protection here- and you aren't playing any disenchant/alt. win conditions? I'll try and make this quick for you...) I honestly cannot believe that they made such a cheap, powerful card (so many pesky infect decks are around now), and that it is worth only A LITTLE OVER A DOLLAR. WTF WOTC!?!?!??!?!? I LOVE YOU!!!
Grave pact would be definitely great with an infinitely dying creature card, but I'd rather kill all of my opponents at once than just sweep the board of their creatures.
Thanks for the suggestions! Some I've considered before, but you have a point with the cheaper sacrificing creatures. -This is for casual so I use the Demonics over Worldly. -Lightning Greaves are awesome and cheap (mana-wise anyway), I just don't have any. They could most likely replace Canopy Covers. Swiftfoot Boots are about to come out also, and while they would cost 1 more to drop and equip, they give the sweet gift of hexproof over shroud (which I think is pretty cool.) -Asceticism I've thought about, as it really does do an amazing job of keeping your creatures happy (hexproof AND regeneration...akljfkdjfdkfj). The problem is that it just costs too damn much. If I have enough mana to get that out, I would rather already have a solid grip on one of the combos and having that set in motion. It could possibly be nice to throw one or two in though for some stall time, I just don't know what I would replace. -Viscera Seer is completely replacing Bloodthrone Vampire. It's cheaper, and it gives the scry advantage. Excellent call! -Carrion Feeder is cheap as well but I'd rather have the scry effect for sure -Birds of Paradise really should be in here, I just really have no idea what I could trade them in for. I appreciate the ideas, this deck will definitely be better for them
Absolutely! Combo-based decks are super fun, I support all creation of them lol. I have 4 Demonics because this is for casual play, otherwise I would definitely use Worldly instead if I had to.
Very nice. It's good to see someone else making a Near-Death Experience that actually works! Angel's Grace is awesome, you inspired me to put them in my sideboard for my NDE deck (probably going to try and work them into the main deck but I'm not sure what to take out.) The only thing you could possibly add is Silence, as it will help keep your opponent from foiling your plans on their turn when you are at 1 life (Angel's Grace won't work against loss of life unfortunately) If you wouldn't mind, I would love to hear from you on my NDE deck! I haven't seen a whole lot of people making these decks. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=191063
@ mirnack - What decks are being run to win tourneys? Hmm, Caw-blade, Naya, Valakut (ugh), Vengevine, Twincombo... much, much less infect-centered decks actually win. I really do like this deck, and the fact that it could feasibly kill on turn 2 is awesome, but now that Mental Misstep is out, ANY deck can laugh it off for 2 life (which won't matter anyway if you're playing against infect.) Mental Misstep, Mana Leak, Spell Pierce, Doom Blade, Go for the Throat, Melira, etc. etc. etc. My friend likes to play a casual turn 3 win infect deck (Kiln, Tainted Strike, Assault Strobe, god these cards have become popular) and it never fires off. There are just way too many reactive cards to think so narrowly about the win conditions in your deck. Like I said before though, bravo MathiasT for the possible turn 2 win!
I would take out one Tectonic Edge. They are amazing, but you WILL get screwed when you need a black mana and all you can produce is colorless (Obliterator). And as far as putting Mental Misstep in (which would be pretty crucial), if you want it in your SB switch out 1 Spreading Seas and 1 Black Sun's Zenith for 2 of them. Honestly though, I would remove all 3 Tumble Magnets and put 2 Mental Missteps main deck, and 1 more Go for the Throat. Tumble is definitely good for holding your opponent back, but more cards that make their cards hit the graveyard = more Surgical Extraction fodder for you to choose from. Just my 2 cents!
You my friend obviously lack the understanding of what is so good about fetchlands. If you have them, there is no reason not run them in a mono deck. I would even run another Misty Rainforest, not just 3.
yes and yes for casual play lol
Tournament quality? You're not playing any tourneys until you have 60 cards in this deck...
