Sorry Aaron.
It does have a deck though!!!
Lots of decks (some over 50 likes) have been Article decks just like this one...except the persons did not include an actual deck.

What would you add to make the Searing Meditation deck better...besides Fetch lands?
Please consider it will not be a Tourney deck.
Just a deck for fun.
What do you think of the deck?

I already know how you feel about Spikes.
I read a nice article, you sent me, about how everyone deep down is truly a Spike because Human beings want to win. No one wants to lose. So crappy players label themselves as Johnny or Timmy so that they don't have to try hard to earn the Spike title.

And I will fix your downvoted comments.
You were just giving your honest opinion, and I can respect that!

Thanks Granflux.
Hopefully a few people will learn something.
I love new people playing Magic...especially when you see that moment that Magic hooks them.

I will put it in the notes, that Combos usually create Loops.

Good question.
Most people say that Combo decks involve Infinite Loops.
So this is not a real combo deck.
And Most people say that if you add two cards together and they produce an extra effect...that is synergy.

A combo is an interaction between two cards that leads to game-ending advantage through a self-sustaining repeatable loop, an infinite loop, or a lock.

An interaction between two cards is merely some kind of synergy between their effects that works to create advantage that neither card inherently has.

So technically this deck isn't Combo.
However...to me it is still a Combo deck because it wins by using multiple cards together.
It wins by combining one idea using several different cards to produce the same outcome.

Put them in the Sideboard.
Thanks!!!
I didn't even think about Extort.
I wanted...as much as possible to get "free" lifegain.
Stuff like Nyx-Fleece Ram is going to get me a life free. Every turn. And trigger Searing Meditation.
Same thing with Sun Droplet.
His creature attacks me for 2 damage, I put 2 counters on Sun Droplet, and next turn gain 1 life for "free" and trigger Searing Meditation and deal back 2 damage to the creature that hurt me to begin with.
Spirit Link. Same thing. Put it on his creature. He tries to attack me it triggers Searing Meditation.

Regardless, yes, Extort could very much work in this type of deck.
Good call!

Spark Elemental maybe for early speed?
I love Ball Elemental...and actually own 4 of them!
I hate playing Modern or Standard red because you can't use Fireblast.
That card is in my Top 5 cards list.

Mind checking this one out?

Could you afford -2 Nightmare for +2 Guiltfeeder?

Besides that, yeah, I am in the same boat.
Wife.
Kids.
Bills.

I can never afford the really good expensive cards (I don't have any cards over 20 dollars). So I never get to experience trying to build cards with really nice cards. So I do not have any say so on how to make a deck better that features a lot of really high end cards. I think that is an issue a lot of people have on this site. They can relate to playing Vampire Nighthawk. They can't relate to being countered spelled by Force of Will.
With that said...if they can relate to budget cards they are more likely to like budget decks and comment on budget decks. Thus...budget decks get a lot of attention. I look at people like PhyrexianPossum...and look at how damned evil her decks are...and I love the cards and the concept and admire all the pretty cards...but I have never touched or played with or against those cards. They might as well be on Mars, you know? So it is easier for me to relate to the cheap decks.

Hexmage and Dark Depths really are brutal together.

Do you have a favorite card Possum?
Mine is Lotus Petal
For the longest time it was Jester's Cap.
I remember seeing a Jester's Cap t-shirt in a magazine one day.
I very much wanted to buy one! Never did though...

This deck is a Magic lesson in Planeswalkers.
To be honest...I think I own 4 or 5 of them, but have never used them.
They seem so damned powerful...but slow!
I am just weird.

I will say +1 for using the Scepter and spells to slow your opponent down.
Gives you time to really go to town with the Planewalkers.

Mind checking this one out?

Dragons of Tarkir is coming out soon!
Goblins beware!!!
I love Goblins so much Northy...so this may be one of the few decks I can't give you a +1 on (Joking).
What did those poor Goblins do to the nasty Dragons?

I have already discovered a very, very nasty combo with the new Spoilers.
Hate that new cards (Standard) sometimes are very expensive and can't be published in Budget decks!

Mind checking this one out Northy?
It is very much a follow up to your Deck you made about teaching New Players how to play.
It introduces the 3 types of Players and the 3 types of Decks.

Plus I was a giver and provided a deck to go along with the Magic lesson. :)

Red/White deck with Searing Meditation.
That card combos with everything!!!

Awesome!
Mtgvault made me a Johnny player, Couch.
I use to hate a lot of the decks on the Hot Page because they seemed like One Trick Ponies.
Cute. Novel. Interesting. Neat.
But none of them were hard core, meant to win, in your face decks.
And I use to rage against the Johnny decks.
But over time I came over to the Dark Side!

My newest deck.

I swear, Searing Meditation has to combo with about every card in the deck!
It should be a case study of Synergy in a Magic deck.

Consider that Step 2.
It explains, once you have learned the basics, the 3 type of players and the 3 types of deck types.

No room for the Main Deck Description, so here goes.

Perfect example of a Pure Combo deck...in that it has very little signs of aggro or control.

Deck is Built around Searing Meditation.
Basically whenever you gain life you can pay 2 mana and use Searing Meditation to do 2 damage to target opponent or creature.
Fun times!

Want to know how mana combos there are in this deck?
Let's count them together.

1. Sun Droplet + Well of Lost Dreams (life and card gain)
2. Sun Droplet + Ajani's Pridemate (life and power gain)
3. Sun Droplet + Searing Meditation (key combo)
4. Sun Droplet + City of Brass (puts counter on Sun Droplet)
5. Well of Lost Dreams + Soul Warden (card and life gain)
6. Well of Lost Dreams + Spirit Link (card and life gain)
7. Well of Lost Dreams + Nyx-Fleece Ram (card and life gain)
8. Well of Lost Dreams + Lightning Helix (card and offense gain)
9. Well of Lost Dreams + Wind-Scarred Crag (card and life gain)
10. Ajani's Pridemate + Soul Warden (power and life gain)
11. Ajani's Pridemate + Nyx-Fleece Ram (power and life gain)
12. Ajani's Pridemate + Lightning Helix (power and offense gain)
13. Ajani's Pridemate + Wind-Scarred Crag (power and life gain)
14. Orcish Artillery + Sun Droplet (puts counter on Sun Droplet and offense gain)
15. Orcish Artillery + Spirit link (offense and life gain)
16. Orcish Artillery + Soul Warden (life gain)
17. Soul Warden + Nyx-Fleece Ram (life gain)
18. Searing Meditation + Spirit Link (offense and life gain)
19. Searing Meditation + Nyx-Fleece Ram (offense and life gain)
20. Searing Meditation + Lightning Helix (key combo)
21. Searing Meditation + Solemn Offering (offense and defense gain)
22. Searing Meditation + Wind-Scarred Crag (offense and life gain)
23. Solemn Offering + Well of Lost Dreams (defense and card gain)
24. Solemn Offering + Ajani's Pridemate (defense and offense gain)

Over 20 combos!!!
Nice. They are all meant to gain you life while slowly killing your opponent's creatures and your opponent by using Searing Meditation.
Hope you enjoy!
