Yes. Draw power. Mentor of the Meek would work nice. It really is one of the most awful feelings in Magic to run out of cards in your hand. To me, it means my plans were weak (unless I win on the turn I run out of cards in m y hand).

More one turn drops, please.
I have the answer. Turn 2. Liliana's Caress.Turn 5. Mind HiveTurn 6. Prosperity Turn 7. One with NothingThat would work, right? I mean...if you had enough mana ramp and disruption to buy you time for it to work...the combo is sound, right? Basically you would force your opponent to draw a lot of cards and then force him to discard them dealing damage via Liliana's Caress. The major issue is this (if the combo works): Your opponent is going to have 5 or more lands by the time you force him to draw the cards...meaning he will have the mana resources to play the cards against you. Especially if you have to wait a turn inbetween Prosperity and One with Nothing. Two small issues: Damage and Disruption. Unless you intend to force your opponent to draw 10 cards (20 points via Liliana's Caress) you need ways to cause damage to your opponent. That way it is less mana needed to deal the death blow with Caress. And if you have to run a lot of mana ramp you may lose ability to disrupt your opponent long enough to pull the combo off. I mean, to make your opponent draw 10 cards and then play One with Nothing you need 12 mana! Which is insane without mana ramp. Would start out like this3 Mind Hive3 Prosperity 3 One with Nothing3 Liliana's Caress22 landsThat is 34 cards. Suggestions: Instead of forcing your opponent to draw 10 cards at one time...play stuff like Howling Mine or Night's Whisper to make your opponent draw more cards? Maybe. All of this is assuming you are going to say that I need to watch what I put in the deck in case my opponent can use it to...that I may want to throw in useless cards. Another idea. Same idea but use cheap Blue draw spells. Safe. They draw cards and then boom you throw down a reverse One with Nothing. What about something like Breakthrough if we keep running with the idea. Sorta same idea as One with Nothing. You play Breakthrough and choose for X to be 0. That could be a second win con with Caress. Anyways, yeah, I try to keep looking over your decks. Later.
I'm confused.
Not disagreeing with you friend. Nor am I trying to speak for Northy. Sign in Blood is quicker and isn't 2 cards for 2 cards. I agree. However, I do think I see what he is trying to do. He is trying to put in as many cards as he can that combos with Soulflayer. In that effort, Reap is very nice. And if he does play against other 20 dollar decks...than the one turn lost (and one creature lost) with Reap vsSign in Blood my not be as hard to come back from. Northy said it best, "Abuse Soulflayer's ability the best you can with this deck. Cards like Gurmag Swiftwing and Vampire Nighthawk become a tasty feast for your demonic pal when he hits the field" in his How to Play section. I would like to point out, for what it is worth...probably not much...but Tendrils and Verdict could also be used on your own creatures to feed Delve/Soulflayer. Would be silly to do so, but just wanted to point out the combos/synergy he is trying to go for. On that note...Culling the Weak would be a neat card for Soulflayer. Not modern, of course. But neat.
Could be wrong...but Altar's Reaping has synergy with Soulflayer. Example: Use Altar's Reaping on Gurmag Swiftwing. Draw 2 cards and Put Swiftwing in the graveyard. Now play Soulflayer. Use Delve to exile Swiftwing from the graveyard. Outcome is that you ensured (by sacking a creature) Soulflayer is a 4/4 creature with 1. Flying 2. Haste 3. First Strike. You could sack Nighthawk as well. Or Mirri. Sacking Myr makes the Soulflayer Indestructible. Sacking Skyblade gives Soulflayer Hexproof. Sacking Nighthawk grants Soulflayer with Lifelink.
It's been pointed out to him. I made this post 2 weeks ago: "Take out Propaganda and Sigil of Sleep.Add in mass bounce like Devastation Tide and Arm with Aether"
Sorcery speed lessens value of Dreadbore. Since your Meta rarely play them...it means I gave bad advice.
+1Maybe Dreadbore in the Sideboard, in place of Terminate, if you come across a deck with a lot of Planeswalkers?
Yep, I liked your decks Fairemont, for what it counts. And it seems like, on average, you have to have 5 likes within a day of making the deck. And that is hard to do. Sometimes it is just pure luck if your deck gets noticed. Or the name of the deck that gets you noticed (Gothy proved that). It is an iffy system, at best. When I really, REALLY, want a deck to make it to the hot page what I do is this: 1. Copy and post a link to my deck. 2. Go to new deck section, pick out several decks that I think I may be able to help with, and comment on the decks with suggestions that may make the deck better. 3. Go to the unloved deck section and do the same thing. Find several decks that I like or can comment on. I tell the deck creator ideas/cards that I think will make his/her deck better. 4. Finally, I post my deck link to their deck page and ask something like this "If any of the cards I suggested or ideas I suggested help, then feel free to check out my new deck and give advice." It is a lot of work. For sure. Look at how many comments I currently have! But it does work sometimes.
Not sure of the name.
Thanks for the advice. Will revise the deck soon.
I put in Specter, Duress, and Hymn to Tourach in for other people's planeswalkers/artifacts/enchantments. Nothing sucks worse than not losing the game because you don't have an answer to a single artifact, you know? Thus the discard aspect of this deck.
Okay. Okay. With all the new enchantments that Theros brought I witnessed Serra's Sanctum skyrocket. What about Faith Healer, now? Is she viable as an interesting card?
Would you put in Nighthawk over Specter?
Probably right with the Coffers...wanted to keep it cheap though. And I thought of Obliterator...same issue with Coffers. Whip...it goes with the movie theme, doesn't it? Where to fit it in at, though?
How about this one: Rescue from the Underworld. What are your thoughts about building a deck around it? In theory, it would rock in a Multiplayer game to sack a Gray Merchant, choose another copy of Gray in your graveyard...and then bring them both out the next turn for fun!!But besides that unlikely happening, that still leaves a lot that can be done with that card. I would say though, for 5 mana you better bring some mana ramp like Dark Ritual. And I am sure you have a right to say that there are much better cards out there than Rescue from the Underworld...I just thing it would be neat for a deck with "enters" or "leaves play" creatures with Rescue and other cards that support the concept. And sorry for posting my deck link above. :(
One day this deck will use Rescue from the Underworld to bring back 2 Grays!!!
Most likely a great suggestion. Probably do need to do that since the deck is already 300 dollars. Which ones would you add? Flooded Strand? There, I changed it. Hope you like.
I am hoping, after he goes out of Standard, that he will drop below 10 dollars. :)I love Goblins. I still need to trade for some of the more expensive ones. I would love a playset of Piledrivers and Lackeys.
