Probably the best budget deck I've seen yet. Consider me inspired to make this for my buddies who are just starting to play!As for a suggestion for an alternate card to anyone who might see this, I prefer Lys Alana Huntmaster over Wildheart Invoker. I picked up a couple of those in my early Magic days and ran them in my elves deck. Not so coincidentally, that's about the time my friends stopped letting me play my elves deck :P But I get why the Invoker is there, Archdruid alone can usually pay off his ability fairly quickly. Just a preference thing really.

Ha, now those are some shenanigans ;) I can dig it.
I think he's a better fit mainboard but to each his own. I can see the deck still obviously gets the job done.
This deck isn't legal in anything because Ajani isn't officially released for tournament play until this weekend, not because of Brainstorm. Cool combo by the way :D
True, but I don't have the room for him. I considered him but Wirewood Savage definitely won out that slot. Thanks for the suggestion, though!
I would put in Goblin Chieftain over the enchantment because I think it would hit the board way harder since it would have an immediate impact and getting your gobbies haste, especially Krenko and Siego Commando, are a must with this deck. Plus, having 8 goblins in this deck that can give your guys haste will probably almost always guarantee you getting your dudes haste. Awesome job on this deck, though, man.
You're right, all those cards would be great additions to a cheap goblins deck like this. Thank you for your input!
Well, I think the deck runs far smoother with at least 20 lands, even if you run into the occasional mana flood, but to each his own. Good defense of Devastation Tide, I can smell what The Rock is cooking on that one now.Baleful Strix is a sneaky good card, no doubt about it, but if you're trying to find something more compatible with your deck's strategy, perhaps replace it with Hypnotic Specter or Nezumi Shortfang? Both will give those deck removal cards more targets and frustrate your opponent. Here are the changes I'd make if this were my deck for playtesting purposes:-1 Glimpse the Unthinkable-1 Devastation Tide-4 Baleful Strix+ 4 Hypnotic Specter+ 1 Swamp and 1 Island
First of all, I really like the idea behind this deck. It does indeed look pretty ruthless no matter what it might play. That said, right now the deck seems to be its own worst enemy. I would run at least 20 land to start off. I know your mana curve is low but you don't ever want to run into the situation where you have one or none, which happened on quite a few of the sample hands I looked at. Maybe another playset of Dimir mana lands? If not, then 2 more basic lands at least. Also, I think Devastation Tide is a little out of place. If you're focused on getting stuff to your opponent's graveyard so you can sap them out of their deck with the likes of Surgical Extraction and Extirpate, add another card that will get that job done for you. If you want a wrath, go for a real wrath like Damnation or Black Sun's Zenith. Or if you want some more variety than creature removal, go for Smallpox or something like it. Or if you want more discard, go for something like Hymn to Tourach. Even if you wanted a card like Devastation Tide, I would definitely pick Cyclonic Rift over it. Gives you way more flexibility. Those are my criticisms of what seems to be a really good deck concept that just needs some fine tuning!
That's really dirty, running a Fog-based Emrakul deck, haha. Gotta give you props for having the balls to run something like that and expect people to want to keep playing Magic with you :P Haha, I kid, though, of course this deck isn't going to increase my chances of keeping my friends either!Yeah, man, the Turbo Fog build has supposedly been around for quite awhile. There's a Turbo Fog deck on here with probably 40+ likes from Innistrad block that is alot like what I used to run in Standard during that block and piss people off, ha. Now I just play casually once more and wanted to make an even more efficient (therefore, assier) build than before and I think I accomplished it here!As far as burn goes, that's why I'm considering having a few sideboard cards for the likes of burn or weird damage-flinging combo decks to see if I can draw into something like a Witchbane Orb to give myself hexproof and/or Surgical Extraction to remove their key damage-doling cards from their deck! I'll get the chance to test it out soon and will add the cards to my sideboard here once I figure out what works well. Usually I don't include sideboards with my casual decks but since I want this deck to be able to play anything I'm going to have to make an exception for this one.Thank you for taking the time to check it out and comment!
Ah, the Heartless Havengul deck. Forgot how much fun I had with this deck back when I played Standard during Innistrad. My only suggestion would be to include some tutor other than Rune-Scarred Demon. That said, I make that suggestion without any knowledge as to what's available for tutor in Modern besides the likes of Diabolic Tutor and Increasing Savagery. You've definitely inspired me to reboot this deck to my collection!
Definitely agree with the Greater Gargodon comment. That dude's gonna be a beast in this deck. Cool deck, man!
That's true, that's why I'm considering a sideboard consisting of cards like Surgical Extraction, Witchbane Orb and Negate so I can at least have a chance against those decks. It's definitely fun for me, my friends...not so much. Haha. Thanks for taking the time to look at it!
A little math for all of you looking at this deck: Isochron Scepter + Tangle = good game. Trust me, it's insanely assy.
Considering a sideboard for once for one of my casual decks simply because this has no answer what-so-ever to the likes of burn. The original version of this mainboarded Counterspell but it looked like it'd be a dead weight more times than not, so I opted for more fogging (and ability to cycle) with Lull. Sideboard cards I'm considering include (in this order) Surgical Extraction, Witchbane Orb and Negate.Anyone who has any other ideas please feel free to share them!
Yeah, Thoughtseize is a boss, no doubt about it. I'd probably buy a playset of them just for this deck since I have the rest of the cards but they definitely aren't cheap, haha.
Cheap and effective. I really like it and have been looking for a cheap deck to build for those pesky Squadron Hawks :D This will serve well for inspiration, thanks!
Been trying to build a deck like this for awhile. Gotta love how well Quandary and all that discarding go hand-in-hand. Good deck, I'm going to use this as another deck for inspiration!
Haha, that's true. It's a lot of fun. I'm also finally taking your artifact mana rampers advice, ha. I had to learn the hard way and now I'm giving in.
Yeah, man, I have an Olivia EDH deck, which I see you discovered, and a Grand Arbiter EDH deck. I'm currently tweaking both of them to get the card flow better because they can't keep up with this one, ha.
