Yeah Thing in the Ice is way better than Dark Depths, and a lot more fun it seems, too. Can't blame you for wanting to use those Haunted Horrors. They make for a sweet combo with Thing!

Ensnaring Bridge is probably the most intriguing suggestion you gave. The creature base is definitely proving to be the trickiest aspect to nail down right now. I've tinkered with trying full-fledged Madness, vampires and tokens, none of which are really convincing me one way or another yet. Playtesting will likely prove which set of creatures are best suited for the deck than anything else. Early on in this deck's development I did try to put together a Quest + Mutual Discard + Madness idea but abandoned it quickly after realizing it needed too many different cards to work well. As for Kolaghan's Command working as instant Madness, yeah that could work but more often than not the Madness cost of my creatures is a bit steep for that to be very realible, though I'm sure I'll occasionally get to pull it off.
Did you bother to read that this deck is about utilizing discard abilities? You can get off your high horse by the way, we obviously know what Lightning Bolt does.
Love the janky-ness everyone is trying to pull off with Thing in the Ice these days, but this is probably the best one I've seen yet.Plus, gotta give love to the witty name.
I like the idea of this deck, and you certainly have honed in on a clearer strategy here than your current build. My big suggestion is ramp, whether by mana dork or mana rock of some sort. While I think investigate is kind of a cool idea, it clearly is a much better mechanic when you can drop your spells for the turn and crack a clue for card advantage. Find a good flow to include ramp and I guarantee it will run pretty smoothly.
How many people do you think will pirate this deck? *creepy ironic smile*This is positively evil. It's also positively pirates. I'm now positive I positively love evil pirates...Pushkin!One last trollolo: 2,016th view in 2016. Where da bitches at.
I really like the idea of this deck, man. Thing in the Ice is too much fun, and giving it infect is definitely a sinister idea. I would say this a good start for a Thing in the Ice infect deck, but I don't think building it around that one strategy is all that wise. I would absolutely find ways to fit more cards in here to make certain the infect wins you the game. An infected transformed Thing is no guarantee you'll win the game. However, if you can find a way to only need him to hit your opponent once to win, I think that would be ideal. If you want card suggestions just let me know and I'll try to help out!
Thanks, man, I appreciate the love! I have thought of splashing white for a deck like this but I just haven't torn myself away from the mono-black build yet, ha. I think I will definitely take these suggestions into consideration and try out a white-splash version of this deck as well.
Well, good sir, looks like I already appreciated this badass deck of yours about a year ago, haha.
Yeah, I just wish I didn't have to discard a card with new OIivia, otherwise it would have been a no-brainer.
Thank you for the comment and love for my deck! Drana is a fringe card I've given a measure of consideration. I'd have to playtest her out first to see how often I can get her to hit my opponents, if at all. As for Maze of Ith, I typically consider it for all my EDH decks while in building mode. I might have left it out thinking I had enough cards to mess with an opponent's creatures sufficiently, that and not wanting to give up a land slot in a deck that already hurts for mana occasionally. I'll give both cards some second thought, no doubt!
Haha, yeah man, everybody and their momma's knows that's the key to EDH success. Seriously though, if I didn't see how fun those fancy cards are to play with Animar I wouldn't have bothered to get them, but I gotta admit it's a stompy good time, like a good ol' fashioned hoedown.
Ha, well honestly neither one of those cards would necessarily be bad with Mycosynth Lattice out. But yeah, that'd pretty much be the only way either would be worthwhile. Holy shit, I just looked up Joven and yeah, he looks like he could be Metallica's savior or something, haha. I hope he'd be proficient in only outlandish instruments, though, like the recorder and sitar. His little ad on Guitar Center's corkboard by the bathrooms would have that pic of him and say "looking to start prog metalcore band with other serious recorder and sitar players."
Molten Psyche would for sure be in this deck if the players put their hands in their graveyards instead of shuffling them into their libraries :/ Yes, most metalcraft cards really do suck, ha. I think the only two I have in the deck are Mox Opal and Etched Champion, and the latter is just there to play pro-everything chump, really. I'll have to play the deck to see if I feel I need Elixir as an oh-shit button if my graveyard were to get exiled or something. Definitely something I'll keep in mind for now. Same goes for Bludgeon Brawl. I have like four of them unfortunately so I can always throw one in the deck after a while to shake things up if I feel the deck needs a bit of a make-over after gameplay, just to see how she plays. Aladdin and Joven could both be useful if I have Mycosynth Lattice out. Furnace Dragon as well, for sure. But otherwise I'd have a hard time convincing myself to include them. They are good wildcards to consider, though. If only there were more tutor in red or artifacts! Speaking of tutor, yeah, Goblin Tutor is too ridiculous, ha. One of us really ought to get some Unhinged and Cracked cards to play with, though. I shouldn't need Geosurge, I have plenty of ramp through my artifacts as is, methinks. But I will likely have to squeeze Feldon into the decklist. Good thing for him I don't have all the cards for this deck with me on deployment (about half is sitting in my card boxes back in San Diego) so the half-version I'll be playing with over the next few months until deployment ends will include the best half of the original Daretti decklist so I'll get plenty of practice with Feldon and (hopefully) fall in love with him enough to want to replace something in the deck for him. Thanks for all the suggestions, broski! I appreciate you taking the time to find some cards to suggest to me. I'm gonna keep working on my Iname and Sedris decklists for you once I get back in port. I have some ideas I've come up with on my app but I want some good Internet to be able to compare and contrast several decklists online to see what essentials I've missed out on for both those decklists.
Looking for any ideas to make this deck more potent. Some fringe cards that didn't quite make the cut include Glaring Spotlight, Doubling Cube, Grim Monolith, Ratchet Bomb, Goblin Charbelcher, Prototype Portal and Colossus of Akros. If anybody can convince me as to why one of those might be better than something in the deck, by all means try, please! I'm open to hearing any ways I might be able to make this deck more powerful so if I'm not seeing something lethal please feel free to enlighten me! I would like this deck to be the Daretti EDH measuring stick for the Vault
Every damn thing I could think of to add to this deck is already in it so I'm just here to appreciate an awesome Nath EDH deck!
You should post the entirety of your Sedris deck already by the way so I can see the whole decklist, duder. I'd like to load it onto my Decked app on my phone and playtest it and find some other cards that work well with him to give you some suggestions, mandingo.I can do the same for Mayael if you ween the list down to what's actually in the deck currently.
He has the Formula One artifact pit crew to back him up, he'll be good, brahski.
That's the idea with Vandalblast, although Shattering Spree would be another good card to grab for that purpose alone. Torpor Orb does affect some of my creatures but I can always use it for sacrificing fodder if I don't need it. It's powerful enough to shake up plenty of EDH decks, which warrants it's inclusion I think. Thanks for the input and check out my deck!
Dude, I commented on it last night as a matter of fact! It looks like a lot of assy control fun. I might have to build a deck like it someday and piss off all my friends, except legacy style so it's even more brutal. Muwahaha :P
