you can change the format on the right hand side to be commander and it will give you a special area to showcase your commander
Golgari always feels like its meant to balance the most notable parts of black (kill, graveyard return) with the versatility of green creatures. Your deck is cool, don't get me wrong, but it does kinda seem like a b/g weenie deck without any heavy hitters. Maybe try something like Questing Beast instead of mandrills, sakura tribe elder instead of naga vitalist, or undead gladiator instead of dross hopper. All these creatures are low cost, high reward, and offer additional benefits besides just muscle. Also consider that the less the average mana cost is in your decks, the less you're likely to need a lot of nonland mana production. Even having just a couple dual lands can make things a lot easier, and they don't need to be expensive. Also, in a deck like this where your removal depends on your creatures being stronger, its probably a good idea to go with deathtouch heavy stuff and make sure you have at least 3 of each variant of fight card. Creature like Gifted Aetherborn, Hapatra, Deathcap Cultivator, Deadly Recluse, and Thrill-Kill Assassin all have deathtouch, and keep with the Golgari Flavor while being relatively inexpensive. Also, Vampire Nighthawk is ridiculous and would be perfect with this. That way, you're taking advantage of the best shit each color has to offer, without losing any overall power. Could also add some graveyard return like victimize, stitch together, or vigor mortis if you want to retain that "sacrifice for power" feel., without having to buy something like regrowth.I do see what the idea with the obliterator was, and admittedly, people thinking roughly the same thing are probably why he's stayed so expensive for so long. My suggestions are of course, just suggestions.
Not really a visible win condition here, maybe add Pyschosis Crawler or Laboratory Maniac to give you something to shoot for? Another idea would be Sphinx's Tutelage. Then you would at least have mill for field control.
How is the mana curve bad on a turn one kill? Please explain.
wrote something, think i figured out how the little "combo" i was going for could benefit an older deck.
Good point, yeah that would be kinda redundant.
I honestly have no idea, It's been reprinted so much I'm not sure what the last thing it was reprinted in.
Another one to take note of is Everlasting Torment.
That could work, or dark ritual. Less of a constant source, but more dependable for a 1st turn Crusader/Necroskitter
Crypt Ghast is another option for a little extra mana, but it's a creature so it depends on how dedicated to the theme you are I suppose.
One thing though, if you don't mind spending a little on lands, Cabal Coffers could pretty easily solve any mana issues. Not legal in modern though, if that's something you're aiming for.
Fair enough, didn't think about it only giving Hex +1 to power.
That in mind though, you could use Carnifex Demon to really speed up the infection process and take a bunch of their 2/2 on his first turn out. Then popping Glistening Oil on him to keep taking/killing and running 4 Hex Parasite to keep Necroskitter alive so you can take everything.
Very nice combination of Infect and Wither. Really sets it apart from the other infect decks I've seen.
I like the idea, but it's not actually G/W. It's just that mercy killing has that lorwyn dual color cost. That, and even with the overall mana ramp, I don't like the idea of a 7 cost creature that would be mostly late game, especially with genesis wave, where the overall idea is to get as many elves out at once as possible.
Yeah I noticed that while playing it, was trying to figure out what to put in for a sink. Had actually forgotten all about Ezuri, thank you for reminding me.
The little spells work alright. They add some removal and damage, especially if one of the Futures is out. This deck and one of my others are made in the same vein, but that one is much more refined as its meant for modern tournament play. This is the other one im referring to: http://www.mtgvault.com/grandcateran9/decks/boil-burn-mk2/
It does alright so long as you're not playing against heavy control. Its fast enough that it can overtake decks that aren't super creature heavy, but anything with decent removal just kicks it in the face like, well, like an angry goat.
If you guys like the weird tribal flavor, should check out my bears. http://www.mtgvault.com/grandcateran9/decks/a-beary-grizzly-end/
