Let me know how they work (or don't work) out for you, I'm curious to see the potential benefits of it.

Yeah, I think that's where my problem lies. I don't play Modern, so I'm unfamiliar with the meta. I'm far more of a Legacy player and getting back into Standard now lol
I'd say yes. If only because there are so many ways that people can remove a relatively vanilla 20/20. He doesn't have the benefit of super protection like Emrakul does.
Some food for thought, Lingering Souls, Midnight Haunting, and Dragon Fodder if you're looking to stay W/R.
Okay, so through conversations with my friend who is a judge here's what I've got...Sagu Mauler DOES come back into play after it's been blinked, however it is still considered a vanilla 2/2 with the inability to unmorph. The rules on morph got all kinds of janky when the mechanic was reintroduced with Khans
But assuming that you are able to successfully blink out the face down Mauler you would most likely get it back onto the battlefield face down as that was the state at which the creature left the battlefield.
Actually, Aether Vial wouldn't be able to play Sagu Mauler face down. The face down morph ability has to be cast from your hand unfortunately. And I'm not 100% sure but I think that if you tried to use Restoration Angel's blink ability on a face down morphed creature it's treated like if it is a token, meaning that the only state they can exist in is on the battlefield. Any other location it is sent to, regardless of how temporary, it ceases to exist all together.
Here's my list for storm, in case you guys were curioushttp://www.mtgvault.com/admiralbananas/decks/storm-2/
Lol, alright I suppose. Maybe it's just because I'm used to playing Dark Rituals in my Storm deck which needs 4 of 'em xD
Adding dual lands will literally double the price of this deck lol. The duals aren't totally necessary in this type of build honestly
Just curious, why not run 4 Dark Rituals? I mean, it's not like having the potential forextra mana is ever a bad thing lol
At first glance here it looks like you're trying to go several different directions with this deck and you seem to have a decent foundation enough for a basic form of Modern Maverick. Also, where's your blue source for Sagu Mauler? Or do you not intend to cast/flip him face up?
You ever look at a card and you want for a deck in any format and wonder how it could possibly be as expensive as it is? You can thank Commander for a little bit of that. It's a popular enough format where it drives up demand for cards thus having an impact on their price.
Same argument can be made for Legacy or Vintage :P
Yeahhh, didn't mean to give you a heart attack mate xD
Yes and no. All depends on what your opponent is running (ie, do they have blue? chances are they have counters) but this combo goes off fairly quickly and with minimal cards needed, so less for your opponent to deal with.
HOORAY INFINITE COMBOS!! :D
It looks like we have some fairly similar deck lists for Merfolk:http://www.mtgvault.com/admiralbananas/decks/fridays-during-lent-2/I went a slightly different route keeping 1 Jitte in the main (which is a local meta call to be honest)
Your deck could probably use a few more counters and maybe a little less on the creature count. Take a look at my list below, it got me two top 4 appearances at large scale LGS legacy tournaments.http://www.mtgvault.com/admiralbananas/decks/fridays-during-lent-2/
I retract my above post. I knew the legend rule was changed so that you could have your own copy of a legendary permanent that your opponent may have. But I seem to have missed the secondary part to that rules change about you being able to select which you wish to keep should you get a second copy of a legendary. (Obviously you'd keep the Thespian's Stage version with no ice counters)My apologies for any confusion my post may have caused.
