Quite the statement.
I want to understand the turn two win; this is how I see it (please correct me if I am wrong):Turn 1) Land, (any Bauble) - I would say you'd drop Pyrite Spellbomb, but your plan can't be to expect it in your opening hand, right?Turn 2) Land, Reshape (for lotus) - with three mana available and no more than five cards in hand, how are you getting the combo off?
The same reason I wouldn't expect a seven year old Standard deck to consistently win against other Legacy/Vintage versions. It may have fit into Modern at the time, but that doesn't mean a deck should be considered perfect in a wider format. I think consistency is worth reviewing when a deck falls into Vintage/Legacy and costs $290, and is an important element of a deck.
No problem sir.
In theory, withevery card played ideally and smoothly, you can deal 26 points in total. Initial use (2 damage) Conjurer's Bauble + Reshape (8 damage) Faith's Rewened (8 damage) Second Sunrise (8 damage) It is, as you said, rather slow for this style of deck. Even with draw, without mana boost, going through an entire deck takes time.
You can Conjurer's Bauble + Reshape
I don't undertand how your combo is complete on turn two, please explain. Also, even with draw, just silence isn't enough vs a control deck... So you begin round two and on turn one, your opponent drops Pithing Needle (Pyrite Spellbomb) on turn one. It's a very common control card, after all.
"Can" combo off at turn 3. Have you run the stats on that working out? You say "the deck is really consistent," but the numbers don't agree with that. Also x4 Silence doesn't stop a control deck.
You are not dumb; you are correct.
With Æther Spellbomb and Chromatic Sphere, I don't think you need Ponder AND Sleight of Hand - you just pushing one back to turn two so you can cast the other on turn 1. 18 land is light for having Metalworker as your main event; you're likely having to wait an extra turn for your third land to cast it. Why don't you have any protection for Metalworker? Mizzium Skin maybe?
I think you need something else going on in this deck; you could easily lose to aggro or control. I drew 10 sample hands (w/o mul.) and they were all hard to work.
I fixed it. I assumed people would assume a "x2" (as Puschkin did), but you are right. For clarity, I removed it from the description from 3/5. Thanks for the feedback!
Psychotrope Thallid + Life and Limb ?
It's only rough math, but it is a general idea. The exact math is a lot more to put up here.
For argument's sake, we will figure we draw nine cards - starting hand + 2 draws - because we would ideally play Heartless Summoning on turn 2. The short answer (not as accurate, its just an idea), in terms of stats, is this:The odds of drawing Heartless Summoning from our first nine cards is about 60% (assuming no mulligan). [~4/60 chance x 9 cards]Second, we would assume we draw Heartless Summoning, leaving us in need of x2 Myr Retriever (18.5%) OR x1 Decaying Soil (53%) from the remaining eight cards. Finally there are a handful of options to finish off "a combo". This is all assuming you don't play Sign in Blood.
You are right, w190487. That's my mistake (something that slipped through during the changes of the deck).
Assuming you have an ideal (or near ideal) hand, you are right. If not, Tendrils can play off 16 creatures instead of 4, and if you have x2 Myr Retriever, you do not need Decaying Soil at all. In my experience (with budget combos), adding a turn via increased mana costs isn't as detrimental as suffering from higher pressure from less card options - it's a personal preference, I suppose. I would rather win turn 4 2/5 games than turn 3 1/5 games, for example. You are correct, I'm simply asking about the lesser of evils, in terms of card economy.Personal Note: when I craft <$20 decks, I generally don't have a concern for cards like Thoughtseize (Hymn is a good point). If someone plays a card that cost as much as my whole deck, I was probably not going to win anyway. This deck could be completely rebuilt to deal with those kind of threats (most decks of this build are $200-500). I am personally most threatened by disenchant and Counterspell.Thank you kindly, Rickell, for your thoughts. Without quality debates, decks wouldn't improve as much - mine especially ;)
Ok, I thought the suspend might be a main perk, but I wanted to be sure :D
Psychogenic Probe/Isochron Scepter/Surgical Extraction >.<Well done sire, I think it's rather rounded for being as aggressive as it is. I have one question: why mainboard Living End? I might be missing something :SLastly: :O!! @ The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale (that's always fun to see)
