i agree. I've tried Faerie Seer but was not pleased, i'd rather keep Opt in its spot

I never liked bant spirits, so im currently working on a uw list too. Since horizons i think mariner helps the deck a lot.
In my list im also testing giver of runes, have you considered it? Regarding your list, i think wanderer and spell queller are crucial and should be 4 of.
Your mana base differs very much from mine and seems awkward to me, but i wont say it does not work.
Take a look at my page to find my list.

Why aether vial? Most of your creatures already have flash. I think this has too much creatures and lacks discard spells.

Hi! I think spam merfolk and hope for the best is not a proper strategy to play magic. I also play simic merfolk on arena and there are some key cards the deck needs in my opinion.

4 silvergil adept for card draw
4 benthic biomancer for early pressure and card selection
4 deeproot elite to grow your creatures
4 jade bearer to put counters on your creatures.
4 merfolk mistbinder as the only lord we have
Then i play 2-3 herold of secret streams as a curve topper. It makes your creatures unblockable so you can swing for the win.

Try to craft some of your missing cards.
There are different takes on the merfolk strategy, but this works fine for me.

Here are some suggestions:
Detention sphere over oblivion ring
Gideon of the trials
Secure the wastes
Field of ruin over tec edge
Memorial of genius over blighted cataract
4 path to exile

Nice list, but too many sorcery speed spells for my taste. Ive always felt like faeries like to operate at instant speed. Thats why i also dont like jace in this deck. But there a different aproached and different play styles.

As far as i can tell after playtesting and according to the latest tournament results, biomancer is the way to go! Adept can be activated if there is a redundant card to cycle in your hand, otherwise you dont have to and its still a body on the board. With Cursecatcher on the other hand you sacrifice board presence if you make use of its ability. Also its quite easy to play around cursecatcher.

Im not too familiar with the power of consuming fervor, but i guess a combat trick like brute force may be superior here.

Pretty decent list!
I guess I would go up on the goblin count instead of Glitterfang, and Lightning Berserker. There are some more good goblin one drops like Raging Goblin and Fanatic Firebrand that could fit the theme. In that case you could play Goblin Grenade - one of the best one drop burns spells, but requires having goblins.
Also Brute Force comes to my mind.

I never really liked jace and brutality in this deck, but if it works for you, it is a solid list! +1

Your uw deck could look something like this:

I think its a pretty strong list for its price.
Feel free to copy it

Hi there! Am i right guessing that this is your first attempt building uw control? If you need some help i would have some suggestions for you.

4x 6mana legendary planeswalker is not the best idea, because they can get stranded in your hand. Think about 2 gideon of the trials, 1 gideon jura, 1 elspeth instead. Gideon is super fast and can win games on his own.

Mass removal: here i would play supreme verdict or day of judgement because they are faster than end hostilities.

Counterspells: i recommend 4 mana leak 2 negate and only one dissolve, same reason, mana leak is just faster.

Removal: obviously path to exile is the best removal, but for budget reasons you could play oust or condemn

Card draw: you should find room for 4 opt or serum visions.

Now try to rearrange your deck with my suggestions, then we can talk about manabase and creature choices.

Faeries are pretty small creatures, so they are bad at blocking and defending. I recommend adding some kill spells. Since most of your sprites are rogues, oonas blackguard is a great choice. Notorious throng could be a great win condition here as a one or two of. Also since this is not concidered budget anymore, i recommend spellstutter sprite, its one of the best sprites ever printed.
Happy b-day btw!

Nice, let us know how testing is going.
Next step would be to adapt your mana base.
Fetchlands are a necessary evil but shocklands are not. Every shock costs two turns of bitterblossom. Every single life point matters in this deck. I recommend only one shockland.
Dismal blackwater is not a good dual land.
Here are some options that can be played:
Drowned catacomb, creeping tar pit, darkslick shores, river of tears

Great deck! Here are some changes I would make:

-1 Vendilion Clique - its a great card, but its legendary, you dont want to get them stranded in your hand.
+1 Mistbind Clique - its your biggest beater, and the only way to get rid of Bitterblossom - can be crucial

-2 Glen Elendra Liege
+2 Scion of Oona - Scion costing 3 instead of 4 with flash and hexproof is just the better lord.

-3 Faerie Impostor - is this a good card? Bad first drop. I see its cool with Spellstutter Sprite, but you also have Familiars Ruse...
+3 Kill spells - Cast Down, Go for the Throat, Doom Blade, Fatal Push ...
You could even go for Vapor Snag - also gives you the option to return your own creature if needed.

-4 Faerie Harbinger - Im not sure on this one, but i think its too expensive for its effect
+4 Opt - It also helps to find cards, smooths your draws.
I can also see like 2 Opt and 2 Remand in this spot. Or 3 Opt and one more kill spell.

Give it a try and tell me what you think about those changes.
