Vexing Devil is only "good" in Modern Mono Red Burn, and that deck isnt very good, competitively. Devil is, for some reason, a casual all star, though, so I can see why you would think it would fit here. Rift Bolt is a functional Lightning Bolt, and if you want to waste a counterspell on a 3 damage spell, by all means, there are 21 more where that came from. Rift Bolt is played in both Modern and Legacy, so I feel like Drake's analysis is wrong.

I dont understand the disconnect here. First of all, if Guttersnipe were as consistent as you claim, it would have seen play competitively during its standard lifespan. It didnt. Swiftspear is currently seeing competitive play in THREE formats, in this exact type of deck. No, I do not think Burn is the "be all end all" (even though I finished in the top 5% of a Modern GP with RW Burn:-)) but it is the key component in THIS deck. You want to talk about damage prevention? How does Guttersnipe beat a Leyline of Sanctity? are you going to Lightning Bolt yourself so you can get 2 damage across? Ultimately, I dont care what ends up in THIS deck, I am just informing about what I would play in MY deck (Goblin Guide, but whatev)
yeah this wont see much play in tournies. the other guy, Monastary Master or whatever, hes gonna be dumb in competitive. this guy doesnt do enough, but its a fun ability
you dont get the chance to block with your 1/1 deathtoucher, because this deck has instant speed burn in it.....seriously, get out of magical christmasland and honestly evaluate this situation.
Swiftspear comes down 2 turns earlier, and doesnt eat your whole turn to play on turn 3. If you play guttersnipe on turn 3, have no one to swing with, and it just dies when they untap, you have effectively Time Walked yourself, when instead you could have played Swiftspear, swung, and double bolted for 9 total.
there are only a few on here, and no one has built GosT.I havent actually played it yet, and am looking for actual input. trying to play sunday
see, youre wrong. Swiftspear is absolutely a win condition by herself, because of Prowess, which makes the new guy even moreso.
Guttersnipe should be Swiftspear, or the new Prowess token maker.
Yeah, Kazzong is correct here. Manifest Instant and sorceries are not instants or sorceries when they are manifested, they are creatures.
yes, there is a danger in an opponent having red, but its irrelevant, if you arent a terrible player. as long as theyre trying to play Magic, you will have windows to cast it with no retribution.
Young Pyromancer 2.0
^apparently doesnt know how to play Chain LightningYour comment should read "chain lightning sucks if your opponent is playing red AND isnt doing anything the whole game"you play chain lightning when they dont have RR to return it....theres a reason its a $14 sorcery speed Lightning Bolt.
Act would kill Grand Master, but that hardly matters if youre casting Act for (r), that means there are 12 creatures on the board, and you would be gaining 156 life, wiping the opponents board, and likely following up with more creatures, so I dont see how pointing out that your 2/2 dies is relevant, Anomaly
this card is likely not actually a $20 card....that price is nothing but prerelease hype. The deck looks fine, as long as you can keep your guy alive. I think you would be better off running a basic RW burn list with this guy in the sideboard.
my rabblemasters cost me $1 each. I bought 60. They paid for my trip to GP Orlando. Thanks, Rabblemaster!
^seriously...why not just lightning bolt?
needs more repeatable ways to deal damage to yourself, but other than that looks fine
no delver. just Cruise.
swiftspears are nearly always worse than Goblin Guides, in my experience. The blue splash is worthwhile for the Mono Red Burn deck, as the kind of deck this is fits what Treasure Cruise wants you to be doing anyways.
chief of the scale is bad. should be Bloodsoaked Champion. also, you should be running 4x Seeker of the Way, as it is easily the best card in this list. Sorin, Solemn Visitor , Heroes Downfall, and Murderous Cut should also find a home in a deck like this. edit: didnt recognize this as a budget list. I am running a similar list to great success in tournament play, because its fast enough to get under the midrange decks quickly. the change to make this less budget isnt that expensive, so take my comment as that: a way to take it to the next level.
