This beauty brought me to second place tonight in the tournament, lost to a Mono Black / Artifact Infect deck. Burn could and should have beat him out, but the deck choked. Next thing on my agenda is to find something to really counter Infect, the ability is becoming a staple of this current block.

Looking at it, Arc Trail is nice, but since Lightning Bolt did get reprinted, Id drop that for the Searing Blazes, simply because landfall isnt that much of a problem in a mono color deck, and it dual targets just like Arc Trail. Might think about making the Searing Blaze your 2 addition to your sideboard, even if you dont replace the others in your deck for some added burn, is always nice.

Thats what I get for not paying attention to what. is in the deck compared to the sideboard. I didnt think I saw Lightning Bolt reprinted in M11, but I might have missed it.

Didnt notice at first, but the mill creatures in this deck are fine, you may or may not want to sub in, the Hedron Crabs, but the Halimar Excavators are very nice, especially since all the other creatures are allies, things only get worse for the opponent as they hit the field. Took me looking at the Jwari Shapeshifters and trying to decide on weather I'd run that or its more expensive cousin Clone, then noticed the Shapeshifters effect being targeted to allies, and started to poke my nose around more. Very nice deck, well rounded, and very suitable. Only other suggestion I could make, would be to add a couple Sword of Body and Mind. Since this deck doesnt have to play defense if it doesnt want to.

Take a look at my Burn & Artifact Breaker deck, see if you can come up with anything?

Deck looks very nice. Though I feel I must add that you should drop a couple creatures (your choice on what) for 4x Hedron Crab. landfall 3card mill, adds up quick. Other than that, the tome scours and archive traps look wonderful, there are alot of people in my area that use deck searching cards, fetchlands, tutors, and the like. I might up the count of Traumatize up to 2, only to make it show up more frequently.

Very nice!

I would drop the 4x Lightning Bolt for 4x Searing Blaze, especially since you're running enough land that landfall on the turn shouldn't be a big problem, and it would also bring it into standard legality. Also, if available, drop the Melt Terrain from the sideboard, and add 3x Comet Strike, or just add another 2x Melt Terrain to bring the count up to 15.

Best of luck with this deck, looks like it would be an awesome partner / opponent to my Mono-Red Burn & Artifact Breaker deck. << http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=134743 >>

Firstly, I know there is still a good show of 1-of's in this deck, mostly because I don't have more than 1 copy of the card, and I also didn't have anything to put in for it to fill 4x counts.

The deck curve remained mostly the same, though I did remove some higher cost cards and replaced them with lower cost cards to fit the new theme of the deck.

LIST REPLACED:

4x Raging Goblin - 4x Goblin Bushwhacker
2x Lightning Elemental - 2x Shatter
1x Shivan Dragon - 1x Hoard-Smelter Dragon
1x Magma Phoenix - 1x Lord of Shatterskull Pass
4x Lightning Bolt - 1x Flame Slash + 3x Searing Blaze
2x Seismic Strike - 1x Shatter (total 3) + 1x Skitter of Lizards
1x Earthquake - 1x Heat Ray
1x Pyroclasm - 1x Fireball
1x Claws of Valakut - 1x Hoard-Smelter Dragon (total 2)

Outside of bringing the deck back into standard legality, I also wanted to make sure that I would be able to handle the incoming onslaught of artifacts, due mostly to the scars of mirrodin block, but if I should face an opponent who isnt throwing artifacts onto the field in a constant or semi constant stream, I can sideboard in the 3x Zektar Shrine Expeditions for the 3x Shatters, Maybe even sub in some of my own artifacts to give the 2x Hoard-Smelter Dragons something to chew on. Otherwise, if I find myself still overrun by artifacts, I can sub out other cards and creatures for the 1x Manic Vandal, and 3x Demolish to add some more artifact control to the deck.

Comments and criticisms welcome. Hopefully I get some feedback, since I'm planning on running this deck tonight at the tournament at my local card shop.

I'll second the sideboard idea, especially because where I play, I dont often see the eldrazi at all. Maybe only once in a while see someone run the spawns for sac mana. Either way, you will definitely want to run 4 tome scour, 4 hedron crab, also another sideboard option, or main deck for that matter, may be Archive Trap.. I dont think Ive seen anyone mention that yet, but Traumatize gets to be less and less mill the more its played, because the deck only gets halved. Archive Trap is a solid 13 cards, played for 0 cost if your opponent searches through their deck, otherwise its out for 3BB. To go back to the eldrazi for a moment, I would probably go with the nihil spellbombs, only because they are rather cheap to play, and they resolve nicely, much easier than the leyline, because then you dont have options to recover mill, if you happen to run anything in your deck to recover spells, or the entire graveyard (i.e. Quest for Ancient Secrets)

Phew.... Thats a deck that I wouldnt want to triffle with lightly. Would take a very well constructed plan to take that down in any short amount of time. At first glance, I cant see any obvious holes or possible exploitable circumstances, but maybe under more careful scrutiny, there may be some. As for a first impression, Im wowed, this is very nicely put together. I'll have to take some time to pick apart the mechanics of this at another time.

Cheers!

Maybe I can convince you to take a look at mine?

Most of the 1-of's in this deck are there because I dont own enough to run 2 or 4. Also, I was building these without thinking about proxy cards, since I mostly play home games. This deck was supposed to be my travel deck, giving me the ability to go someplace, like a tourney or elsewhere, and be able to play without having to adjust for proxy rulings. (Tournaments especially) So far the deck runs quite well, and as mentioned below, Mono-Red burn really has to be fouled up to have a bad standing, so long as I can get creatures out quick, and get mana flowing nicely, along with my burn spells, Ive got no problems with 1-of's

If the goblin deck is fast enough, you wont have to worry about the extra lands that you're putting in their hand.

Now that we've moved around a bit of the cards and added some of the suggestions, can anyone suggest a sideboard. Though keep in mind that the deck is going to stay Type 2 Standard, and I'd like to remain within the bounds of Mono Blue, within the M10 and Zendikar Block sets.

Well, a majority of the deck is there to predict what is to come in the deck, draw more cards to have all of my mill cards on hand, and mill the opponent with Traumatize (at first), then Archive Trap, and, when we bother buying it, Jace the Mind Sculptor.

My wife and I built a Mono Blue Mill deck as well. We dont have the options for Jace Beleren or Jace, the Mind Sculptor, but so far we've come out pretty nicely. I have to agree with Mario, running 4 Traumatize is a bit too much, since after the first couple times, they remove less than Archive Trap's solid 13 card removal. Right now we're running 3x Trauma and 4x Archive Trap, since "tutoring" has become increasingly popular among almost all other colors, (yay 0 cost). At first, we were running the walking atlases as well, but we pulled them out completely because they werent pulling enough. We're running 4x Mind Spring and 4x Divination, along with 2x Spellbook (so you dont have to drop your mill cards).

Since it seems like you might need a bit more creature control, outside of 4x Cancel, try adding a couple Gomazoa (Zendikar Set: 0/3 Flying,Defender out for 2U with [T] Put Gomazoa and each creature its blocking ontop of their owners' libraries, then those players shuffle their libraries.) in for a couple of the Walking Atlas.

If the Landfall Idea is another solid focus, try running Roil Elemental for more creature control:
Zendikar Set 3/2 Flying out for 3UUU. Landfall-Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, you may gain control of target creature for as long as you control Roil Elemental.

Also in regard to landfall, perhaps try Terramorphic Expanse instead of your other nonbasic lands, since it doesnt cost life to do the same land-searching. Though with TE the mana you search comes into play tapped.

Hope this helps, have fun.

P.S.
Looking at this, We definitely want to add a couple Jace TMS into our deck.
