forget thoughtseize and just use duress, so you can't pop the creature you are still disrupting them, looking at their hand and not losing 2 life.

ok. cipher spells won't be legal for much longer but they can work for now. let's focus on inspired, claim of erobos is good as well as evanescent intellect or oracle's insight. that can get you tapping your creatures with out attacking.

you should try and make this modern. you only need to replace two cards.

Frenzied goblin is sweet.
I like those enchantments as well. I might invest in some of those.

my first attempt at izzet was nothing but burn and mill. it worked but it got boring. If you look at RabidRavingRabbit's izzet deck it is one of the sickest to play against. I was hoping to utilize some of the insanity of the r/b. I just don't seem to have a knack for it yet.
This deck is awful by the way its at a 25% or less win ratio. The other izzet I have posted has more like 75% win. I have been meaning to go back and use the limitations of modern and pauper and make it play better but I haven't done it yet.

Thanks for commenting.

I don't think divination is going to be enough draw for you.

if you want to stop creatures, check out the spells with the 'overload' ability.

It is a good idea. I have seen the same done with acidic slime and the closet. the only drawback is getting them in play. you need to have other win cons because waiting to get that out takes time and then you are hoping that your opponent doesn't have a 'destroy target artifact' spell. I would use cheaper creatures instead of those demons. zombies and first strike creatures would be better.

I had this idea, well a similar one, focused on mill and burn the to burn. the problem you are going to have is draw. You might top deck before you know it. I suggest some blue draw cards or those blue rouges that let you draw and discard or one that lets everyone draw.

Other than that little problem it should run pretty well. Burn decks are pretty boring after a few games though. The can get way more fun if you make them modern or vintage.

well with the new set out things have changed a little. the shorestalker and drown in sorrow is not really for this deck. Far/away is a nice touch. the hypnotic siren is so expensive that i doubt you will be able to use it. so I'm not really sure. stay with the harpy or siren of the fanged coast or both. i would try switching swan song out with 4 bile blights (or 2 and 2) and shipwreck singer with the mnemonic wall. the 2 harpies and 2 siren of the fanged coast.

and myself and this is just me..... lose the bidents and get 4 vile rebirths. I really hate those legendary weapons and refuse to use them.

advice on playing. watch your opponent. you can't get to hasty and want to play things every turn. you kind of have to wait to let your opponent move. stay on them and take out there creatures first. spend more of your first few turns doing that and less time dropping your own creatures. us vile rebirth on their fallen, that can keep you with a defense. when they get top decking or stalled, then you can drop some of your good stuff. wait, watch, be patient and keep the pressure on them and you will do fine.
these decks are kind of versatile so you can switch out the spells as you like and it should still do fine.

birds of paradise is hardly a ramp. lose the bolts for wild growth and trim down your spells and creatures a bit to work in some rampant growths. I would just keep the cheapest and most cost effective.

mutilate can get out of control and pop your own stuff. I like the X cost in black sun. I feel it offers more options. plus black sun gives counters, drastically weakening any opposition, permanently. Keep in mind kids today are using the monstrosity mechanic like crazy.

instead of mutilate you should try black sun zenith. blood tribute would be sick, costly though so go with consume spirit.

you need anything that gets land into play or generates mana. the eternal mana card set is this: wild growth, rampant growth, lay of the land.
get sets of those three and the rest of the deck can literally be whatever you want. by turn 3 you can drop most creatures and by turn 4 and 5 there shouldn't be anything you can't play.
after that the choices of creatures is just a matter of preference. you like demons, right on let's have those. lose putrid leech for korozda guildmage. trust me on that one.
abyssal persecutor is fun but not really necessary. that little mechanic can bite you in the butt if you aren't careful.
creakwood liege is amazing.
the rest of it looks good I would just go for the growth spells over the BOP's and the elves.

with that kind of mana ramp you should be trying to drop heavier creatures. with what you have now you would top deck quickly an then only have some midrange creatures and no removal if they send out heavy creatures of their own. when choosing heavy creatures look at CMC 4 to 6 maybe a couple at 7 or 8 and they should have abilities like trample, death touch, reach or other kinds of fun stuff. monstrosity is a new mechanic that is really hot right now.
maybe you could sub out briar shield for some umbra auras or wild growth/verdant havens. (more mana or better buff)

Rancor is just a perfect choice though.
