If anyone has constructive criticism or suggestions for tweaking the list OR if you have a suggestion for a cool sideboard tech, I would really appreciate it :D
Swans is a lot of fun, I've played around with lists a lot myself. Another avenue with the deck is Drake Haven, it gives a nice option for additional attackers with extra mana
I could see that. Haha. I use super-Hydras Animar, myself.
Garruk is a little too high of a cost for this build, only because thisa deck just wants to curve out with hastey fatties. Ruric Thar is at the top of the curve following my almost-all-creature build while still punishiung anything trying to get me mid-late game.
Mainly because its sorc speed
Which flash creatures were you thinking of? On the subject of adding Urban Evolution, Plasm Capture, and Sphinx's Revelation; This deck is trying to be more creature-based aggro than a control-based midrange, the speed and size of our creatures is what's ghetting us there most of the time, that plan doesnt usually change unless we're facing control, in which case, we just have to switch our plan of deliverance up a little bit. Also, why do you say the Azorius Charm for control matchups?
I thought about Bioshift, but, there wasn't anything I could justify bringing out for it. Did you think of anything in particular that it'd be better than?
Since you have a lot of heroic, you may consider Martial Glory.+3/+0 to one creature and +0/+3 to that same one or another, for 2 mana. It hits multiple targets and is low mana cost enough to be a great combat trick
Against aggro, you'd have to di some serious sideboarding. Sylvan is far too good to cut, especially because it stalls against aggro AND avoids spot removal while still tapping for any color. L/D decks are meant to play midrange while disrupting opposing mana bases, this strategy is really good again other midrange decks, control decks, and decks that combo/base strategy off of certain non-creature permanents(land, enchants, and walkers are the easiest to deal with) Primordial may be a little too big for this deck, but, the ember swallowers are perfect in here.
Hello,I've fiddled around with the idea of a L/D deck in standard for awhile now, and, while it does seem to be a bit difficult to pull off, its definitely fun and entertaining to play. My best results for it lately were basically playing a G/R Midrange deck with plenty of ramp and a few L/D cards. Bramblecrush and Frenzied tilling were my only L/D outside of ember swallower and it worked out really well. 8 dorks for ramp/stabilization, ember swallowers, Ghor-clan Rampagers, Burning-Tree Emissaries, magma jets, clan defiance, And Xenagos. It worked out pretty well, i didn't usually have an issue with mana either, despite sacking my own lands, fenzied tilling and 24 lands(18 basics) felt right. This is just my experiences. Its definitely gun though. Good luck and watch out for sweepers!
Since you're playing the Guildgates in here, you may want to concider Sylvan Caryatid as your mana dork, Guildgate on turn 1 followed by a 0/3 Hexproof Dork on turn 2 still lands you on Turn 3 with 4 mana along with having a decent blocker early game.... Just something to think about
I agree, I was trying the Beast Within out for a little bit, but, it makes for an awkward card when you have the opportunity for a turn 3-4 kill
Personally, my fav is Ulamog. The only reason for Kozi over the others was ease of access for myself. And thank you. =]It's a fun deck for sure, try it out if you ever want a silly-fun day of semi-competitive Modern.
You don't cast the Eldrazi. It's in there for an infinite combo in the discard step. You throw your lands via Seismic Assault. Throw lands at your Swans, draw cards(mostly lands), throw more lands at your Swans, draw more cards, and then, when you finally have enough, throw all the rest at your opponent
This is really interesting... I love Swans of Bryn Argoll though... Which is what caught my eye in the first place. Looks pretty fun, I was hoping for a modern build though...If you get a chance, check out my Swans Deck:http://www.mtgvault.com/konjester/decks/seismic-swans/I'd love some more opinions. =]
I thought about Legion's Initiative... And it helps the tokens in different ways and can save my actual creatures in a pinch... However... There isn't anything I would take out to place it in the board. Thank you though
Fair enough. But, without the Syncs we only have Plasm Capture and Dissipates, think that's enough counterspells?
Well.... Im a huge fan of Garruk in here, especially because we don't play too many creatures. As far as removal goes, what were you thinking? And Clan Defiance completely skipped my mind, seems to be a great idea with Plasm Capture
Blood Artist-Bloodthrone is the main win condition, but, I've yet to have an issue with control yet. So far, the entire meta game is agro... Which Blood Artist just loves. As for your deck, I liked it... But, there didn't seem to be too much that you were doing early game... And it seemed to lack a bit of consistency. If you want, you could take a look at my life-gain deck. Same-ish idea behind it+an infinite combo+tested consistency. http://www.mtgvault.com/konjester/decks/exquisite-junk-life/
