Heroic Trigger w/ Killing Glare

My question is in regards to Killing Glare and Heroic triggers, Killing Glare XB Destroy target creature with power X or less. I want to know if I pay B and target my own creature that has heroic, for example Agent of Fates. Do I Trigger Heroic and then does the spell fizzle?

You would have to raise the power above X but it would have to start below X.

It has to be a legal target to be targeted. Then it has to become an illegal target to fizzle. It would basically only work with the +1 counter heroic triggers the way you want it to but it would still be super expensive to pull off and ultimately not worth wasting a kill spell.
