MTG Vault Deck Challenges
Deck Challenge: Tribal Revival
After some talking with people at the LGS's casual table, we have decided to reform a Tribal group, with some new rules of our own.
First, all cards must contain the creature type* in the name, art, creature type, rules text, or flavor text. This does NOT include basic lands and basic fetchlands. This is to be followed in most cases but can be broken if needed (say Spreading Seas and Lingering Mirage in a fish tribal b/c of Islandhome) or also it it themes very well (Sunken City in a fish tribal)
*Quotes from people of the tribe count. For example: Deluge is okay in a Cephalid Tribal, since it quotes Emperor Aboshan.
Second, we banned 11 tribes (Faeries, Merfolk, Humans, Goblins, Treefolk, Elves, Vampires, Zombies, Soldiers, Clerics, and Slivers). These are not going to change unless we need to add some (aka the only changes will be additions to the banned list, not subtractions).
Third, you do NOT need 20 creatures of the creature type. In fact, there are no limits on creature type. We feel confident in doing this due to rule #1.
In order to get people to play in it, we decided to help pay for a large pool of tribal decks to put forth that people can borrow for playing. This is where you guys come in. We need budget decks that can be easily bought that follow the above rules. Also, as long as one edition of a card would be allowed, all editions are allowed. I already have Minotaur, Fish, Cephalid, Kavu, and Ape lined up.
If you have questions, ask me on the thread or PM me a message.

How did you not ban Wizards if you went as far as banning Clerics and Treefolk?

yeah, wizards will likely win every time against everything :) Patron Wizard for the win.
I would probably build me an Assassins deck out of nostalgia

You are in luck, I've just recently designed 2 tribal decks that are not part of your banned list. First one is a Rogue deck, the second may not fall completely into your rules, but the Goat deck is awesome. All hail our Goat Overlord :D

http://www.mtgvault.com/portugaru/decks/demon-tribal/ DEMON TRIBAL you need to take out damnation well almost everything that it is not creature.. i tried but couldnt do my best...
Now we have http://www.mtgvault.com/portugaru/decks/werewolfes-finally/
Werewolves
A few cards dont fit to your rulling but are easily replaced, and you have more werewolves to use but are more expensive...
A bringer tribal does not fit because it used cards that do not mention bringer for ramp and mana-fix
http://www.mtgvault.com/portugaru/decks/5-color-bringer-deck/
I have seen knights a lot
http://www.mtgvault.com/portugaru/decks/knights-test/
Changelings are fun
http://www.mtgvault.com/portugaru/decks/changeling-fun/

This one i think it fits your criteria Beast Tribal
http://www.mtgvault.com/portugaru/decks/bg-beasts/
Squirrels rock
http://www.mtgvault.com/portugaru/decks/world-of-squirrels/
Myrs are there only for ramp but couldnt find anything nice that could actually kill with a lot of mana that said MYR and splinter twin....

None of us can afford wizards. Also we banned 2 tribes that were based in a color (save humans we banned using red even though they are white, and slivers are five colors) so Faeries and Merfolk came to mind for blue and white isn't known for too many broken tribals, so we got clerics who can also go infinite. Besides, we are a friendly bunch that plays fairly casual games, so it's not like any of us even want to play a wizard tribal.
I have an assassin tribal, but have still not finished it yet.
I have wanted to make a Rogue deck for a while, and who doesn't love goats :D
I like werewolves, knights, and beasts. We don't like combo or expensive decks, and squirrels are both. Splinter Twin wouldn't go over nicely in our group. As to the Legend tribal, I sorta already have one. It's a Samurai tribal with all legends.
