New to MTG. Looking for Deck advice
Hi all.
I'm new to MTG, well met. I'm wondering if anyone could give me tips on cards, strategy etc if I kinda outline what I'm looking for...
I have the G/W Avacyn intro pack (plus couple of boosters) so there's no decent structure. I'm looking to keep G/W quite equal. My 2 friends I play against have a combo of Black/Blue and R/W.
As for the kind of deck, I like big beasts and nasty angels so I'd like to compile something that assists the bigguns!
Any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!

G/W Avacyn starter deck is quite nice :)
When you say you want to keep it equal, what do you mean?

Thanks for the reply.
I just meant I would like a 50/50 split of Green and White, as I like them both.
Looking at some of the decks that people have compiled for G/W the Avacyn seems pretty good. But I'd like more of a tactic or strategy, something to play around, coz at the minute I just seem to hope that I get a card that's good!

Well, having something to play around is all about deck construction. A simple creature deck that is built correctly is no longer as much about luck as it is timing.
So focus on what kind of creatures you like and want in your deck and expand the deck there after. Most people like to mix in some removals as well, like Oblivion ring.

Hello!
I too started magic many moons ago, with a Green/White set up.
So i find that you need good synergy in your decks, things that work well together. And if you want big expensive green/white creatures, you need time to get them out. There are 2 different approaches that i take to "making time", either speeding up time or buying it. When you speed up time, you want things out faster, which means you need more mana than your standard 1 land per turn. A classic example is Llanowar Elves. Playing this on turn 1 puts you on to 3 mana on turn 2, a surprisingly large gap. If you want to throw white into the mix, go for Avacyn's Pilgrim, effectively the same, but giving you white.
This approach gives you a nice consistent strategy, and is quite diverse in it's capabilities. The other approach, buying time, is more about limiting the opponent, and slowing the down the effects they put out. Cards such as Gideon's Lawkeeper can keep a nasty creature at bay for an amazingly long time, especially since he can get going from turn 2. Both of these approaches are effective, and many good decks use a combination of both.
The best way to learn and shape your deck is to play it of course! So build yourself a nice easy starting deck, or as Jestrix suggested, buy a starter deck. Once you start playing, you should easily be able to shape it more to your play style. Just pay attention to the obvious! If you often find yourself thinking "Man, i wish i had a _____ right now" Put more in! If you find yourself thinking "Man that was a crap draw" take some out! You should almost always be able to justify every card's position in your deck, if you can't it probably shouldn't be there!
Hope this helps :)
