Card Review

Werewolves, humans, zombies, vampires, and even crazy scientist. The Innistrad block has brought us some pretty cool cards to build decks with, but why?

I feel their should be a card evaluation for some of the major cards in the current series! For one it'll help the new players to Magic along with the players that might miss the potential synergy with some of the cards.

Lets start out with one of the best human cards in the series thus far!

Okay before you "seasoned pros" get all worked up, because people have talked about Champion before, this article is targeted for new Magic players as well.

What makes Champion of the Parish a rare card and why does he look so bad ass? Champion has saved my butt plenty of time in tournaments. I won a couple local tournament along with plenty of online games with this guy. Is he something you build a deck around no. Should you include him in your deck absolutely!

He's a turn one creature with an even greater ability to make him even bigger! Ive used Champion in humans decks along with solider decks and has worked beautifully. You know you bring a threat to the table when your opponent is throwing out go for the throats at the guy as soon as he can or taking 4 life from dismember just to remove this guy from the field.

Even Champion has he's flaws though, because he is such a great card he gets removed from the field very easy. Thats where the synergy of other cards take into affect. We need a way to make this guy harder to remove from the table.

If your playing against a deck with slight removal. I would throw in some instant cards that make him hexproof for the turn or protection from a chosen color. Such as...

Ranger's Guile is an excellent card for making one of your creatures hexproof for a turn, it also doubles as a great instant for head on head on creature brawl.

Another great card is Turn Aside.

Faith's Shield is an excellent card to put in your deck as well. Faith Shield will protect any of your permanents. Lets say you have a Gideon Jura on the field and he uses a incinerate drop this card and he's protected from red for the turn. It also doubles as a fog if you have 5 or less life.

More permanent solutions against a removal deck:

This is a great SB if not Main Deck card! This will make any Delver of Secrets or any deck that revolves around instants and sorcery cards harder to cast those cards out. She's also has first strike! Great all around card for a white human/soldier deck!

Swiftfoot boots is an excellent card for hexproofing your creatures. Usually when they see you have swiftfoot boots on the table already they like to mana leak your creature before you can attach it to him :( thats just part of the game! If you do get your creature out on the table you can go ahead and pay one and attach this to him and make him have hexproof and haste!

These are just a few cards to give you some ideas while building your deck! Feel free to suggest other cards or comment!

you've done well here, i already know these things, but i can see how it would be helpful to someone who doesn't, and i knew a few people (not naming names) who need to understand some of the things you have said.

Can you explain to me what link i have to put in when inserting a pic? Ive tried a few but nothing seems to work.

Just going to double check, you do know that hex proof things can be countered because they don't have hexproof while on the stack.
