Sealed Draft Strategies?

Hey,
So a bunch of friends are going to have a sealed draft when avacyn restored comes out. Insofar I have never played anything akin to a sealed draft or any special game type. Does anyone have any strategies for picking cards from a sealed draft?
thanks,

are sealed and draft not two different tournament formats? Sealed being the version where you get 6 closed boosters and make a deck from that fixed pool and draft being the version where you pass boosters from one guy to the next.

Anyway the only way to learn to draft is to actually do it, a lot. It's a very skill intensive format. Knowing every card in the set also helps so before the draft you should study the cards for a bit.
A good site for standard draft is tgcplayer, when a set is spoiled there are articles discussing all cards in every color and they have a good draft simulator where you can practise.

i agree with seth. however there are some basic concepts you should know like signaling. lets say i open a pack with 5 red cards 2 green 3 blue 2 artifacts 1 blue and 2 white. i will usualy shy away from the red cards because the person next to me will still see 4 red cards and think nobody is playing red. often i will take ether an artifact card, a "bomb", or some solid removal. removal is very important to draft as it can strongly influence the outcome of each game.bombs are better if you can splash for it, if i open a mythic rare that costs 3 black and 2 colorless and im not already playing black i cant justify taking him, unless youre greedy. but if im playing red and i open a falkenrath aristocrat i can easily plash for the one black mana so i take it. there are a LOT more tips and tricks but im not about to write an article on it so just do some draft with your friends.

This is the website I use to simulate Draft/Sealed. It even shows the average place cards are drafted in case you are stuck and want to learn for a real tourney. http://www.magicdraftsim.com/
