Help with my mill deck

The idea is simple. It's a mill deck that uses Jace's Erasure, Mind Crank, and Grindclock/Shriekhorn as the base. It started as simply a Jace's Erasure deck, where all cards allowed me to draw (i.e. Divination, Merfolk Looter, Mind Unbound), but I found that to be very slow, and left me defenseless. By adding the red, I was able to add fireballs, which is not only a great match for Mindcrank, but also gives me a little defense against creatures. I'm happy with the deck, but I still find myself losing before I can make it all the way through my opponent's library. I either need to make this deck faster, or build in some more defense. Help, please.

P.S. I also don't like that the deck is above 60 cards, but can't decide what 5 cards to cut to bring it back down. Advice there would be nice too.

I'm assuming your building for new standard since its only a few weeks away. The first suggestion is red is not your friend in a mill deck. If you want to splash a color your best bet tends to be black but its a little over done. White is doable but I cant think of anything that's really useful in it except some low drop creatures to block with speak of which wall of tangle cord might not be a bad idea to throw in as its a great blocker for 2 manna. I personally find green to be a fun choice to go with mill. Use it to ramp things out since mill can get costly. Speaking of things being costly your deck list is missing any where between 4-8 creatures. You need chancellor of the spires and consecrated sphinx. I'd suggest at least 2 of each but because you only get mill of the chancellor if he is in opening hand you might opt out of using him to run more consecrated sphinx.
