Proliferate or Defenders for fast mana?

I'm trying to build a deck around my 2 Karns. My plan is for mana acceleration and control (maybe?).

My Thoughts:
1)Use "Overgrown Battlement" and build the deck with mostly defenders, or
2)Use proliferate, for "Shrine"s and "Surge Node".

I don't necessarily have to have both mana acceleration and control together. I guess I just want to know the fastest way to play Karn.
What I would like to know is what ya'll think is faster for mana acceleration? Card ideas are welcomed as well.

would suggest to build mono green then because green mana is the fastest produced mana in the game, have to go with elves as your creatures as well especially the mana producers and land ramp spells as well...
