I'm not 100% sure, but I think triggering Jace's Archivist's ability would kill off the crawler before any damage was done.

it's power/toughness is checked as a state based effect..so as soon as you discard your hand, it evaluates the toughness to zero, which sends it to the graveyard, then you'd draw your new hand.

EDIT: actually I was wrong, despite the word "then" showing up, it's still only one effect and priority is never passed, so the check never happens. my bad

nice build. you'll have problems facing fast decks though and in my opinion Vapor Snag is pretty worthless in terms of defense. you'll need stuff to buy time.

Will the check not happening effect the life loss ability?

A friend of mine recommende that I play rites of flourishing Iconsider it, while another suggested that I go mono U what do oyu think?

I don't think going mono blue is a bad idea at all, cutting out the green would leave more room for useful blue and colorless cards like Venser's Journal, Cancel, and Psychic Barrier, cards that would let you live long enough to draw your opponents to death.

Here's the mono U version the hand tester keeps giving janky hands w/ one land or five i.e. I run 23. still if any other have specific cards to suggest or a color shift any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I know this isn't my thread, but I feel the need to ask anyway... why is blue called "U" (as in mono U deck)? Are there other letters or symbols for the other colours used?
