Advice on a quicksilver amulet deck?

I'm a huge red player. My main deck is a Mono red Koth aggro, but ever since I saw Quicksilver Amulet I have been trying to make a deck around it just out of curiosity. I've tweaked it a lot and gotten it to a semi-consistent state, but I feel like it could be better. This is what I have so far: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=210987

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

28 lands is way too much, drop 4-6 of those and replace them with some removal or early blockers, preferably flyers.

dropping to 2 Jin-Gitaxias would be a good idea, you already have 8 cards to tutor him.

I agree. 4 Jin-Gitaxias is too many.

The tutors are mostly to grab the amulet if I don't get it. And you may be right about the smaller creatures... The reason for so many mana was that I originally wanted to just go straight to the amulet and get a big creature out turn 5 so I needed to make sure I got the mana to do it by turn 5, hoping my tumble magnets and counters would be able to keep me alive till then.

Best list I've seen so far was mono-green and putting Emrakul and some other big guy into play. It seemed pretty good.

The revisions you made we good, Spellskite is a great early protector, but you're going to run into trouble against control decks. Since you don't have a board, yet, maybe prepare for that? Mana Leaks or other counters?

Counter spells can't be redirected to Spellskite, right? I would assume its an illegal target, thus any attempt to do that would fail.

Thanks. That's good advice. I have been getting fairly frustrated with this deck. After working on it and drawing sample hands for a week or so it still seems fairly inconsistent. I might need to take the advice and make it more of a gradual work up to quicksilver by adding some smaller creature rather than trying to go straight there.

Yeah, some early counter and draw to complement your kill might be the way to go. You're running blue, there's no reason not to. :)

I like the general idea of your plan right now. To just get a bomb in play and use it.

Thus far my strategy is to ramp up mana and play a bomb as fast as I can. I don't run 4 quicksilver amulets because unlike your deck you need it to play one of your creatures.

Lets say they bait you and get you to use a counterspell on them and you don't have anymore in hand. The following turn they Mermocide you and take out Quicksilver Amulet, do you feel like you can still win the game? Without further ado my Eldrazi Ramp deck with Quicksilver Amulet.

I have been play testing it and decided that Baloths mainboard were needed for agro matchup.
