this would work against a creature heavy deck, but what about speedy decks that pump out tokens? Or decks that also play control where they can redirect to spellskite, or some of the other nifty fun cards that redirect? Mana leak? I ask because I played a friend of mine who had a build similar to this and he ran me into the ground when i played my tempered myr deck, but lost tragically when i switched to my tezzy arti control deck.

it looks like a very weak mill.

if that is what you are going for, mainboard decimator web, and add in....hmm, sorry, brain fart. i can't remember the name of the card but its Blue, and when you play it, it mills 1/2 of the opponents library. as far as that, like loki said, i don't really see a wincon either:/

thanks for the reply ^^

i myself also found it be quite slow and weak but i really enjoyed a challenge when building a deck especially in standard

the deck is really designed to control the opponent's hand and deck by flashing discard spells and manipulating the next draw early on the game, with so many "search" spells and abilities right now, psychic surgery imo will really disrupt the opponent's chances of getting a good card draw.

yes, i find it also weak with speedy deck like kuldotha and "cheese" decks, mainly red decks. if its kuldotha im think of putting marrow shards

yes, it is a very weak mill... but with the intention of just removing the opponent's good cards. counter cards you say? i'll remove them 1st with duressand surgical extraction combo if i get the chance, it will only take me 1 turn to do it and if im lucky enough to have psychic surgery already on the field, i'll be able to remove 5 cards at once and see the next draw :)

the wincon that i saw here is that if i disrupted my opponent's combos enough i would be able to massacre his deck using decimator web and sadistic sacrament either by removing key cards or lands. i really like long games coz i like iriitating the hell out of people who uses speedy decks :p

and with elixir of immortality, i would be able to recycle my spells and extend my life if needed. if only praetor's counsel is black or blue i would so get it v__v

the deck is still under construction so suggesting other cards, ofcourse standard, will be greatly appreciated. really would want to put this deck into action before Sept :p im also planning on replacing praetor's grasp

I really do love how you devoted the deck to extraction, I'm positive SureWhyNot will be happy to see more people attempting extraction, but you need some defense while you thin out their deck, or an alternate way to kill them, I have a deck that uses phyrexian crusaders, inkmoths, gatekeepers, and 2 nighthawks, the rest are devoted to extraction, killspells, or discard spells.
Find some defense to play so you dont die while thinning everything out.

thanks for the feedback, the 1st time i playtested it, it got smacked pretty hard. i played it against a mana ramp which has Liege of tangle & Terrastodon as key cards and a puresteel deck. didnt manage to win even once :( i was about to dismantle the deck but i just saw ur post and SureWhyNot's deck and it gave me ideas :)

you're right about the deck being too soft and cant manage against aggro decks so i need to have cantrips and search cards as well to manage my deck with, i'll be editing it again.

EDIT:
just edited it, will play test it later.
