Machine Red - Proliferate for the win

I'd been seeing variations of this deck online when I was out testing my other builds, and I decided to make a version of it to test out. It is incredibly fun, and very forgiving for poor plays.

The basic idea is to get out Koth, and Ultimate him. Once you've done that you can control the board completely.

Plan B is Kuldotha Phoenix. A very good plan in its own right.

I'm not a huge fan of my Necropedes main board. The idea was to have them as an alternate win condition, get in a poison or two and proliferate them to death. That has only happened once. So I'm thinking I need to trade them out for something else.

Here's me playing against Caw-Blade and stomping it:

This deck has an amazing match up against U/W Caw-Blade. U/W/B Darkblade is another story.

I'm still very much tweaking the sideboard (and the main deck) so any suggestions or comments are welcome. Thanks.

have you thought about replacing the necropedes with kargan dragonlord? proliferate up his level counters and he can serve as another win condition.

Hmm, Kargan Dragonlord might not be a bad idea, he's a pretty decent beat stick.

I kind of like Spellskite though because if they manage to get Sword of War and Peace out, if its on a Stoneforge I can block it all day long.

What about Shrine of Burning Rage? It likes getting proliferated, deals non red damage and helps with Metalcraft for the Phoenix. Only I'd rather not take out a creature to put in a one time use artifact...

Kargan Dragonlord is a great beatstick. But he would slow the tempo of the deck would be my concern of it. Goblin Guide could help, although not as much of a lategame creature, he's still viable just for seeing the draw of lands into your opponents hand.

Shrine of Burning Rage is wonderful in a mono-red deck. The problem in this case, it's more artifacts than red spells. Still sets a turn-by-turn clock however.

With all the spare mana you could have late-game you could even run a Fireball as a finisher.

Just some ideas :D

Probably a far better option than Fireball lol...

I would definitely run Shrine over either of these. Shrine gets big and all you have to do is cast spells! It's cheap too. Maybe not run 4 (because it's an awful topdeck) but 3 would be good.
