i personally would take it out and add 4x bushwhacker. OR, you can leave it in and not worry about kicking it (unless its late game) and that would probably work also. But, between signal pest, and the bushwhacker, plus any of the spells you cast boost kiln fiend, you are off to a good start. Also might want to consider goblin Chieftan....and shoot, just for the heck of it, why not kuldotha rebirth? :D
probably weren't wanting to go for a goblin aggro but, my 2 cents turned to 4 cents and thats what we have:P
either way, i like it. it drew well the few times i drew sample hands. good luck!

i'm trying this with bushwhacker, and he seems to be working out better than elemental appeal, but what do you think about furnace scamp? Or maybe (big maybe) even gut shot?

if you want to play furnace scamp, i would choose arc runner over it. the added damage is nice and all but, if you want to run something that isn't going to be used for long game anyways, arc runner gives you a 5/1 with haste for the turn. you could use something like gut shot to open up a path for arc runner and get the 5 damage in. as far as gut shot goes, its iffy to me. you can mainboard it and it gives you basically a free burn spell, but me personally, i would sideboard it along with a set of assault strobes.
have you thought about playing pyromancer ascension? your deck isn't overly burn heavy but it may be an option to sideboard a set of those and the rest of your sideboard could be more burn spells like galvanic blast, and even volt charge to proliferate the counters on the ascensions.

I had looked at arc runner when I was building the deck but with a cmc of 3 it's a bit heavy in this deck especially since i'll probably have to use a burn spell on top of casting it to clear chump blockers. I don't even like having to run staggershock at cmc 3, but it's just too handy with kiln fiend. furnace scamp can be a turn 1 drop that can hit for 4 on turn 2 and has a better shot of not running into a blocker.
I think you just gave me my entire sideboard though, so thank you for that. Now they just need to reprint grapeshot and i'll be all set.

in fact, going back and looking at it i'm really thinking about dropping staggershock for galvanic blast...

good call on not taking staggershock completely out. if you end up siding this deck into a burn/ascension deck, that is a very nifty card to use with the rebound! I really like the way you got the build on this now. infact, i may pick up some guides and build this also if you don't mind:)

go ahead and build it and let me know how it runs. I actually sold all of my cards a year or so ago and I am coming back into it, but i haven't gotten any cards yet. Trying to get a decent deck list and just go buy the deck.
Oh, and if you have some free time check some of my other decks and let me know what you think if you don't mind. Thanks for everything.

for it to even be worth playing the opals, you want to be running atleast 16 artifacts. even then, i would run 3 tops. its a wonderful card, but you need the arti's for it to be worth it. probably add ornithopter in as well but you would need to add equipment or something to pump him to justify having him on the field. OR, you could add in darksteel relic

actually, I totally forgot opal was legendary, so it isn't even worth running, just gonna stick with mountains. I did swap in furnace scamp though.

Opal is still worth running, just not in this specific cause I would believe it's hard to place.
In other decks, it's a 1st turn Tempered Steel with the right hand... that's a huge bonus on an Ornithopter!

tempered steel since i've gotten a playset, i have been unable to keep a set out of my construct/myr decks. its gotten mixed reviews but honestly, i never really have a problem keeping them in play. most people say journey to nowhere it, thats why its dumb. but to be honest, it always seems to draw good. i usually end up with 2 in my opening hand, and if not, the second doesn't trail to far behind.
sorry for hijacking your post for a second there, tempered steel is one of my favorite cards and i couldn't resist:o

oh, i'm not knocking mox opal, it's a great card. It just doesn't fit this deck.
